Dear friend,
Both are different you can go for both .PO is for officer rank while the other is for clerical . Also salary structure is different. But as you are eligible for PO you should prepare for it, clerical will automatically cover up.

Re: Bank Clerical Jobs or Bank PO Jobs? Which one to prepare for? I coaching required for preparing for Bank Jobs?

hi friend,

Each clerical or PO exam would require following skills :
i.Reasoning Ability Test
ii.Quantitative Aptitude
iii.General Awareness/Computer Knowledge
iv.English Language
These are the basic one that a person should have.
Coaching is not necessary thing since coaching can only tell you what to study and how much time would you devote upon a topic but a much needed thing is speed. Speed of solving paper should be fast enough and you have to do it with division of time. Most of the banking exam has 50questions and 30 minutes circumstances. In this one has to solve minimum require questions to pass through every section of the exam.
Just perchase corresponding books and practise them.

Re: Bank Clerical Jobs or Bank PO Jobs? Which one to prepare for? I coaching required for preparing for Bank Jobs?

Hello Manju,
The Bank clerical exams are based on reasoning ability, numerical aptitude, clerical aptitude, general knowledge and english. Now, to succeed in these examinations, you need proper planning and its implementation. The most important factor of such examinations is time limit. If you are not used to answer quickly and correctly, you will need to work on it. Try and practice to solve maximum number of questions within a time limit.
For reasoning and numerical, you must refer good books. For maths, you need practice more and more. As far as english language is concerned, you should have basic knowledge of grammer. Try to read articles from newspapers and magazines and the same will help you for preparing general knowledge. The practice of reading newspaper and magazines must be followed regularly.
You must make different strategies for different subjects for better preformance. You should also try to gather previous years question papers which will help you to understand the type of questions been asked in such examinations and the same will help you to solve questions within a time frame.

Re: Bank Clerical Jobs or Bank PO Jobs? Which one to prepare for? I coaching required for preparing for Bank Jobs?

Hi Manju sipri,

Yes you can apply for both the posts.
For Bank Probationary Officer (PO) Exam

Educational qualifications

– Graduate or Post Graduate in arts, science, commerce, engineering and so on with a certain minimum percentage. This varies from bank to bank. Some take 50% minimum and some from 60% to 65 % also. There is a relaxation for the SC/ST people.

Age

– Not less than 21 years

Written test pattern

– The written test comprises of objective as well as subjective paper. The objective paper has following sections:

a) Verbal and Non-Verbal Reasoning ability – around 75 questions

b) Quantitative Aptitude – around 50 questions

c) English – around 50 questions

d) General Awareness around 50 questions

Note:

These data may differ from bank to bank and you must thoroughly read the notification

The subjective paper tests your written communication skills and views. It mainly comprises of an Essay writing, Precis writing and comprehension passage. You may also get to write your answers on various general topics about banks and general awareness. This will purely depend on the bank authority to decide.

Test duration

– Test consists of objective paper which normally has 135 minutes duration and can vary according to the number of questions asked. The subjective paper has 60 min time duration.

Marking pattern

– There is negative marking in the exam so try to be as accurate as possible. The marks obtained in the written objective and subjective paper will decide whether you will be in the cut off list or not.

Tip

– All sections have certain cut off marks which are either declared by the banks before or they are decided up on at the time of evaluation so you have to attempt to reach the cut off marks in each section. Do not waste time on single section otherwise you may be ousted. Time management is of utmost importance. Try to attempt 80% questions correctly from each section. This cut off marks varies a lot from exam to exam.

Interview

– After you are short listed in the written exam you have to pace GD/ Personal Interview based on the pattern decided by the bank. You will be asked general banking questions along with other general questions based on your education, specialization and personality.

Coaching institutes only tells you the systematic way to crack exams........ But finally you need to give your best in the preparation...
& about books, you have to take Lucent General Knowledge,Verbal and Non-Verbal Reasoning ability and Quantitative Aptitude from books by RS Aggarwal.

Best of Luck

Re: Bank Clerical Jobs or Bank PO Jobs? Which one to prepare for? I coaching required for preparing for Bank Jobs?

Whether to apply for Clerical or Probationary officer jobs depends upon your attitude. Pay is higher in PO post, and also responsibility. Officer posts is transferable every 4 years.

Generally, Bank Exam, selection procedure is by Written exam and Interview.
Written exam covers the following abilitiy:-
1.Reasoning ability
2.Numerical abililty
3.Clerical ability
4.English language, skills, grammer

Reasoning Ability is the ability to apply the process of induction or to Reason out from some specific information to general principle. Four items or four letters would be given and you will have to find out how those sets follow general principle and which one does not follow.

Numerical Ability tests your talent in mathematics, how are you able to manupulate numbers quickly and accurately. Here the problems will not be difficult, but the thing is you will be given less time to solve more problems accurately.

Clerical Ability tests your speed and rapid evaluation in Perception of visual things. You have to rapidly assess the sameness or difference of paired groups of letters or numbers. Again here also, your time is very limited to solve problems.

English Language tests basically depends on your skill in Grammer and Language.

Lot of Books are availabe in shops. It is not a must you should go for coaching. But repeated practice and lot of concentration is vital to get through Bank jobs.

You can download various Bank Exams previous question papers and practice it thoroughly.

Best Regards
