Dear Shantanu,



As you have completed your MSc from Madras University through Distance Mode with 65% marks , you are absolutely eligible for the NET.

* NET Stands for National Eligibility Test.

The University Grants Commission Conducts the NET Exam twice every year in the months of June and December.

The Qualifications Required for NET Examination are :

* Post Graduation in any stream from any recognized university.

* Minimum 55% marks in Post Graduation.

* Age Limit for JRF is 21-28 years and No Age Limit For The Post Of Lecturers.

* There is a relaxation of 5% marks for SC/ST candidates.

Eligibility For NET Exam


The National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by UGC takes place every year in June and December for lectureship and Junior Research Fellowship(JRF)

A candidate can appear for the NET Exam if :-

>> The candidate is a final year post graduation student or has already completed post graduation in any stream from a recognized institute..

>> Candidate must have also secured 55% aggregate in post graduation without rounding off (50% for SC/ST)

>> Candidates applying for JRF must be within the age limit of 18-28 years..no upper age limit for lectureship..

Hello Dear,

IF your university where you done your post graduation is government recognized university then you are fully eligible for UGC NET exam.

NET exam is conducted by UGC twice in a year in the month of JUNE and DECember.
Eligibility for UGC NET
candidate complete PG or Appearing last year from gov. recognized university
minimum 55% marks are compulsory

For JRF, Candidate age minimum 19 year and maximum 28 years.
For Lectureship minimum 19 year maximum no limit
As relaxation for SC/ST/OBC/PWD 5 years

if you have completd masters degree from recogniged university are eligible for NET exam.For general and OBC candidate must be hold 55%above in masters degree. SC/ST candidate must be hold 50% above in masters degree.Part time course are not eligible for NET exam.
For Junior research fellowship course your age must be in between 19 to 28 years.

Eligibility criteria for NET -
1. Master's degree from any recognized university .
2. Minimum 55% marks in Master's degree is required .
3.Age limit -
Those who are applying for Junior research fellowship have to be in between 19 to 28 years .
Thous who are applying for Lecturer post must be above 19 years .

4. Post graduate students are also can apply .

As you have completed Master's from Madras University with 55% marks , then you are eligible for the exam .

>> The examination fees of NET was Rs 450 and you have to pay the fees through challan form in SBI Bank and then you can fill the application form Online. So, If you have complete your Master degree form a recognised University then definitely you are eligible for NET Examination.

To apply for this test it is must that the candidate should have studied in a recognised institute. Also a minimum of 55% is a must in the qualifying exam. So you can certainly apply for the NET exam. You must certainly select the subject based on the area you specialised during M.Sc. The UGC site will give you the required details of the exam.

Hello Shantanu,
The University of Madras is recognized by UGC and hence, the degree issued by it is considered equivalent to degree issued by any other recognized university.
Since, you have done M.Sc. from the University of Madras and have scored 65% marks, you are eligible to take the National Eligibility Test conducted by UGC.
There is no maximum age limit to apply for the test.

Dear friend,

After M.SC in distance mode from Madras University , so you are eligible for NET exam but your degree must be from UGC approved university.

Those candidate have completd masters degree from recogniged university are eligible for NET exam.

For general and OBC candidate must be hold 55%above in masters degree. SC/ST candidate must be hold 50% above in masters degree.

Part time course are not eligible for NET exam.

For Junior research fellowship course your age must be in between 19 to 28 years.

For lectureship ,There is no upper age limit but the Minimum age is 19 years.

NET exam is conduct because of govt college lecturer and PHD entrance.
