dear friend,
You want to appear in IAS exam, for that you have to fulfill some eligibility criteria first.. After fulfilling the criteria you can appear in IAS exam.

IAS exam is a civil service exam, which is conducted by UPSC every year.

Eligibility criteria:-

*The candidate must have complete the graduation in any trade.
*The candidate can also appear in IAS exam during the final year of graduation.
*The candidate must be a citizen of India.
*The age should be in between 21-30 years..
For SC/ST the age relaxation is 5 years and for OBC the age relaxation is 3 years.

So, first complete your graduation, then you can appear in IAS exam..
All the best..

Re: How to become an IAS Officer being a candidate of pursuing 2nd year ECE?

Dear Friend

You can become an IAS officer by qualifying the Indian Civil Services Examination
which is conducted every year by UPSC.

Eligibility for the Examination
> Graduation in any stream from a recognized university
> Age Limit: 21-30 years; 3 years relaxation for OBC and 5 years for SC/ST/PH.

The scheme of examination is as under,
The examination is conducted in two stages.

1. Civil services Preliminary Examination
This is also called Civil Services Aptitude Test and is common test
for all applicants.
This cotains questions from General studies(History, Geography,
Politics, Economics and social development, General Science) English
Mathematical Aptitude etc.

2. Main Exam and Interview
After qualifying Preliminary exam, candidates become eligible for for Main exam and
on the basis of marks in Main exam, candidates are called for Interview.
The total marks of Main exam and Interviw are sum up to produce final result.

The Main examination will contain following papers
i). Essay type Indian Language Qualifying Paper (300 marks)
ii). English Qualifying Paper (300 marks)
iii). General Essay type paper (200 marks)
iv). General Studies (Paper-I & II 300 marks each)
v). Optional subject-I(Paper-I & II 300 marks each)
vi). Optional subject-II(Paper-I&II 300 marks each)

The subject for optional paper are as under.
You have to choose any two of them.

Agriculture
Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science
Anthropology
Botany
Chemistry
Civil Engineering
Commerce and Accountancy
Economics
Electrical Engineering
Geography
Geology
History
Law
Management
Mathematics
Mechanical Engineering
Medical Science
Philosophy
Physics
Political Science and International Relations
Psychology
Public Administration
Sociology
Statistics
Zoology

But following combinations of two optional subjects are not permissible
- Political Science & International Relations and Public Administration;
- Commerce & Accountancy and Management;
- Anthropology and Sociology;
- Mathematics and Statistics;
- Agriculture and Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science.
- Management and Public Administration;
- Any two engineering subjects
- Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science and Medical Science.

As you are doing B.Tech. in Electronics & Communication Engineering I don't see much
benefit of it in Civil Services Examination.

There is no optional subject related to ECE. If you choose Electrical Engineering as
one optional paper you can get little benefit because some papers are common.
Otherwise B.Tech. in ECE is not at all helpful for Civil Services Examination.
