dear aspirant,Eligibility criteria for IFS:
1.Age limit is 21-30 years.
2.OBC and SC/ST category gets age relaxation of 3 years and 5 years respectively.
3.Candidates should fulfill the adequate physical standards.
4.GRADUATION from a recognized university with atleast one of the subjects namely:
Animal Husbandry and veterinary Science, Botony, Chemistry, Geology, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics and Zoology, Agriculture, Forestry or Engineering

General candidates only 4 attempts are permissible.
SC/ST candidates there is no limits in number of attempts.
O.B.C candidates there Only 7 attempts are permissible.

How to apply for IFS :
Candidates can apply for the IFS examination conducted by UPSC both online and offline mode.
1.In offline mode, candidates can purchase forms from a nearby designated Post Offices by a cash payment of Rs. 30/-.
2.Online application you have to visit www.upsconline.nic.in

EXAM PATTERN:-
1.The examination contains both objective and subjective type questions.
2.English, Technical questions and General Awareness questions are very important.
In addition to this, candidates should select two optional subjects also.
Optional subjects include Forestry, Agriculture, Geology, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, Agricultural, Mechanical and Civil Engineering Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science.
Each paper is divided into two sections.
The time duration for each paper is three hours.

IFS stands for Indian Forest Service.
It is conducted by UPSC once in a year.

Eligibility criteria for this examination:-

1]The candidate must have graduation degree from any recognized university.

2]The age of the candidate must be 21- 30 years. There is a relaxation for SC/ST category candidate of 5 years and for OBC category candidate of 3 years.

3] The candidate must be a citizen of Indian or a subject of Bhutan or a subject of Nepal or a Tibetan refugee

4]The number of attempts allowed for the candidates are provided below:
For SC/ST candidate : Unlimited
For OBC candidate : 7
For General candidate : 4

5]The candidate must be physically and mentally fit.

The Selection procedure consists of 2 steps:

>>Written Exam of 1400 marks.

>>Personal Interview of 300 marks.

I am sorry to say that you are not eligible for Indian Forestry Services after passing B.Sc Biotechnology.

For I.F.S Pass graduation with any stream mention below from recognized university:-
Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science
> Botany
> Chemistry
> Geology
> Mathematics
> Physics
> Statistics
> Zoology
> Bachelor of Agriculture and Forestry
> Engineering.

If you want you can apply for:-

As you are B.Sc Physics(Hons) hence you are definitely eligible for IFS examination.

The age should be between 21 to 30 years if you are General Category candidate.

There is 5 years age relaxation for SC/ST and 3 years for OBC Category.

The examination will have three stages that you have to clear in order to get the IFS post:

-Preliminary Examination

-Mains Exam

-Interview

IFS - Indian Forest Service, to become an IFS officer one has to apply, appear and crack Civil Service Exam conducted by UPSC once every year.

The eligible candidate must be an Indian national having either appear for the final Graduation Degree exam or pass with Physics, Chemistry and Biology or Forestry or B.Sc.Agriculture or Biotechnology from a recognised University within the age of 21 to 30 years with upper age relaxation for reserved candidate with good Physical Fitness, can apply for IFS, Civil Service Exam.

Dear Friend ,

* IFS stands for Indian Foreign Service.

* IFS Exam is conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) every year in two stages :

a) Preliminary Examination: It is of objective type, which is a qualifying
examination.

b) Main Examination: It consists of written examination and interview.

The Required Eligibility Criteria For IFS Exam are :

* You must be a citizen of India.

* Your age must lie in between 21-30 years. There is also a relaxation in upper age of 3 years for OBC Candidates and 5 years for SC/ST candidates.

* There are a maximum of 4 attempts for general cadidates , seven for OBCs and no limit for SCs/STs.


Note : The Preliminary Examination is held in May/June and the Main Examination in October/November.

Union Public service commission conduct civil services exam every year for various posts like IAS, IPS, IFS..etc mainly in two stages 1) Preliminary(objective type) and 2) Main exam (subjective type). Generally top 20 times candidates are selected for main exam from preliminary exam.

IFS 2011

Indian Forest Service Examination Eligibility

(i) Nationality

A candidate must be either :

A citizen of India, or
A subject of Nepal, or
A subject of Bhutan, or
A Tibetan refugee who came over to India before 1st January, 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India. or
A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Srilanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.
Provided that a candidate belonging to ca-tegories (b), (c), (d) and (e) shall be a person in whose favour a certificate of eligibility has been issued by the Government of India.

A candidate in whose case a certificate of eligibility is necessary, may be admitted to the examination but the offer of appointment may be given only after the necessary eligibility certificate has been issued to him by the Government of India.
(ii) Age Limits for IFS Exam :

A candidate must have attained the age of 21 years and must not have attained the age of 30 years on 1st July, , i.e. he must have been born not earlier than 2nd July, 1979 and not later than 1st July, 1989.
The upper age limit prescribed above will be relaxable :

(i) upto a maximum of five years if a candidate belongs to a Scheduled Caste or a Scheduled Tribe.

(ii) upto a maximum of three years in the case of candidates belonging to Other Backward Classes who are eligible to avail of reservation applicable to such candidates.

(iii) upto a maximum of five years if a candidate had ordinarily been domiciled in the State of Jammu & Kashmir during the period from the 1st January, 1980 to the 31st day of December, 1989.

(iv) upto a maximum of three years in the case of Defence Services personnel disabled in operations during hostilities with any foreign country or in a disturbed area and released as a consequence thereof :

(v) upto a maximum of five years in the case of ex-servicemen including Commissioned Officers and ECOs / SSCOs who have rendered at least five years Military Service as on 1st July, and have been released.

on completion of assignment (including those whose assignment is due to be completed within one year from 1st July, ) otherwise than by way of dismissal or discharge on account of misconduct or inefficiency, or
on account of physical disability attributable to Military Service, or
on invalidment.
(vi) Upto a maximum of five years in the case of ECOs / SSCOs who have completed an initial period of assignment of five years of Military Service as on 1st July, 2010 and whose assignment has been extended beyond five years and in whose case the Ministry of Defence issues a certificate that they can apply for civil employment and that they will be released on three month’s notice on selection from the date of receipt of offer of appointment.

(vii) upto a maximum of 10 years in the case of blind, deaf-mute and Orthopaedically handicapped persons.

Note I :

Candidates belonging to the Scheduled Castes, the Scheduled Tribes and the Other Backward Classes who are also covered under any other clauses of para 3(ii) (b) above, viz. those coming under the category of Ex-servicemen, persons domiciled in the State of J & K, blind, deaf-mute and orthopadically handicapped etc. will be eligible for grant of cumulative age-relaxation under both the categories.

Note II : The term ex-servicemen will apply to the persons who are defined as ex-servicemen in the Ex-servicemen (Re-employment in Civil Services and Posts) Rules, 1979, as amended from time to time.

Note III : The age concession under Para 3(ii)(b)(v) and (vi) will not be admissible to Ex-Servicemen and Commissioned Officers including ECOs / SSCOs, who are released on own request.

Note IV : Notwithstanding the provision of age-relaxation under para 3(ii) (b) (vii) above, a physically disabled candidate will be considered to be eligible for appointment only if he / she (after such physical examination as the Government or appointing authority, as the case may be, may prescribe) is found to satisfy the requirements of physical and medical standards for the concerned Services / posts to be allocated to the physically disabled candidates by the Government.

Save as provided above the age limits prescribed can in no case be relaxed.

The date of birth accepted by the Commission is that entered in the Matriculation or Secondary School Leaving Certificate or in a certificate recognised by an Indian University as equivalent to Matriculation or in an extract from a Register of Matriculates maintained by a University, which extract must be certified by the proper authority of the University or in the Higher Secondary or an equivalent examination certificate.

No other document relating to age like horoscopes, affidavits, birth extracts from Municipal Corporation, service records and the like will be accepted.

The expression Matriculation / Secondary Examination Certificate in this part of the instruction includes the alternative certificates mentioned above.

Note 1 :

Candidates should note that only the Date of Birth as recorded in the Matriculation / Secondary Examination Certificate or an equivalent certificate on the date of submission of applications will be accepted by the Commission and no subsequent request for its change will be considered or granted.

Note 2 :

Candidates should also note that once a Date of Birth has been claimed by them and entered in the records of the Commission for the purpose of admission to an Examination, no change will be allowed sub- sequently (or at any other Examination of the Commission) on any grounds whatsoever.

Note 3 :

The candidate should exercise due care while entering their date of birth in column 8 of the application form. If on verification at any subsequent stage, any variation is found in their date of birth from the one entered in their matriculation or equivalent Examination certificate, disciplinary action will be taken against them by the commission under the RuleS

IFS exam is conducted under the UPSC civil services exam itself

The eligibility is as follows
AGE:
gen 21 yrs to 30 yrs 4 attempts
obc 21 to 33 7 attmpts
sc/st 21 to 35 NA

age on 1st July, 2011
Educational:

IFS (Indian Foreign Service OR Indian Forest Service )

Minimum Educational Qualifications :

candidate must hold a Bachelor’s degree with at least one of the subjects namely

SO if you have either of subjects definitely you are eligible......

Eligibility criteria for IFS examination
Eligibility for UPSC Indian Forest Service Examination 2011:
Nationality: India National

Qualifications: A graduate’s degree with one of the disciplines namely Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science, Botany, Chemistry, Geology, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics and Zoology or a graduate’s degree in Agriculture, Forestry or in Engineering
Age Limit: 21-30 years
Application Forms for UPSC – IFS 2011:
Application forms 2011 will be available at designated Post Offices.
Selection Procedure 2011:
Selection based on Written Test Personal Interview

Key Dates (Tentative):
Last Date for Receipt of Applications: Mid of March, 2011
note that the dates are only tentative and are not final. The post will be updated as soon as the dates are officially released.
