Indian economic service – IES/ Indian statistical service | Eligibility, Examination Process of IES Indian economic service is conducted for the candidates who are interested to work in the finance ministry. This ministry is used to prepare the procedure which should be followed by the ministry to development the country economically. Eligibility: They should complete PG in economics/applied economics/ econometrics for the post of Indian economic service. They should complete PG in statistics/ applied statistics/ mathematical statistics for the post of Indian statistical services. Examination process: Part 1: They should write all the answers in the form of the essays and there will be common papers for the English and general studies subjects for IES and ISS candidates. Each paper is for 100 marks. For the IES candidates, there will be 4 papers which are paper 1, paper 2, paper 3 and paper 4 in general economics. Each paper is for 200 marks. For the ISS candidates, there will be 4 papers in general statistics and each paper is for 200 marks. The candidate should answer for 1000 marks in total and 3 hours time is given for every paper. The general English and general studies papers will be in degree level and other papers will be in PG level. Paper 1: There will be theory of demand, theory of production, theory of value, theory of distribution, welfare economics, competitive maths in economics statistical and econometrics in general economics paper. Paper 2: This paper contains questions based on the economic thought, concept of national income and social accounting, theory of employment, output, inflation, money and finance, financial and capital market, economic growth and development, international economics, United Nations, World Bank, international monetary fund and world trade organization. Paper 3: In this paper, the questions are based on the public finance, environmental and industrial economics and state, market and planning. Paper 4: The questions will be asked from the ISS syllabus and in paper 1, there will be questions about statistical maths and numerical analysis and probability. In paper 2, there will be linear models, estimation, multi variant analysis, hypothesis testing and statistical quality control. In paper 3, there will be sampling techniques, design and analysis of experiments, economic statistics and econometrics. In paper 4, there will be questions based on stochastic process, geography, computer applications and data processing. Part 2: There will be an interview for 200 marks. |
