The gain of a comparator is increased greatly by providing positive feedback to the comparator.

dear friend ,

" It is an op-amp with a positive feedback and it is known as a trigger because it hold the previous value the input is not changed"

the output of the op-amp is again regenerated with the input and thus acts as the comparison action
