Re: What are the career prospects for psychologists?

I am pursuing B.A. from Pune University and I'm in my first year. I'll be taking up majors next year. I am thinking of taking up Psychology as my major subject. I am also interested in Cultural Psychology, Forensic Psychology and Industrial Organizational Psychology and thinking of taking any one of them in my M.A.

Please suggest the scope for each of these fields and Indian Universities offering the above written 3 field areas.

Re: What are the career prospects for psychologists?

Hello Friend,
I appreciate your interest in this subject but to make a successfull career as psychologist, you will ned to study psychology upto its highest level. First of all you will need to graduate with psychology, and then pursue MSc and then Phd. in the same.

Bachelors in Psychology- 3 years
MSc - 2 years
Phd /MPhil - 2 years

You may specialize in any particular area as
Clinical Psychologists
Counseling Psychologists
Social Psychologists
Educational Psychologists
Industrial Psychologists
Research psychologists
Developmental psychologists

After specializing in any area, you can work as consultant in corporate sector, Social organisations,Rehabilitation centre, Hospitals as well as government bodies and could also start practicing on your own.
As far as the financial side of this profession is concerned, the one in private practice earns much more then working in corporate or any other sector.
