Hello friend,

One can pursue Genetic Engineering in India in the graduate level, rather than under graduate level. That is a graduation degree is a must to study genetic engineering.

Candidates aspiring for this field ,must have biology and maths in their higher secondary or 10(+2) course.

Very few colleges in India are there which offer post graduation courses in genetic engineering like M.Sc or M.Tech course.

Generally candidates should have at least 50% marks in 12th with biology and maths as main subjects.

All the best

Re: Marks required in 12th for admission to Genetic Engineering?

For your information, requirement for Genetic engg. after 12th is:
Eligibility :
The basic eligibility criteria for a graduate degree (BE / B.Tech) is 10+2 or equivalent examination, with Biology, Chemistry and Mathematics as well as genetics as part of the biology .
However,Selection to the graduate courses ( BE / B.Tech ) is based on merit i.e the marks secured in the final exams of 10+2 and through entrance exams. Entrance to the IIT's is through JEE (Joint Entrance Exam) and for other institutions through their own separate entrance exams and other state level and national level exams.

hope this information helps you.
