Dear sir;

IAS is the most prestigious job of the INDIA, Therefore its exam is counted in the difficult to clear category.
Its a two stage examination, In first phase objective questions and in second (main) phase Descriptive or essay type questions.
First you have to choose a subject in which you will appear the exam.
For successful clearance, It is very necessary to have a Depth knowledge in your chosen subject.
U should have to understand the concepts deeply.
For this You have to follow various text books n reference books on your subjects.
But remember, Only BOOKS can not help you to clear, 1st the level of your understanding the concepts is important.
Now a days there are various coaching institutes those may help you in a better practicing way.
But overall you have to do hard labor for understanding concepts of your subject of exam.

all the best.

Not Necessarily all the books it depends on your understanding of the subject.
and

preparing from various books should not come from somebody's suggestions, or some other forces on you.

You should have the will to understand the concept so for that reason some people will get the concept with just one book some others may get the same concept with 3 books some others may get the same with 5-6 books..
In this way the book list should increase.

Just based on your understanding nothing more than that I hope you are clear with point .

Books for IAS preparation will vary a lot.
Some books are really very informative which are enough to get a concept. But some books will link with others for that reason we have to take reference of other books..
In this way you have to count the books.

Not Necessarily one book or not many books. it depends on your understanding of concept.

Getting concept clearly from its roots is important. for that you may refer 1 or many books.

All the best for preparation.
