Re: Can I write UPSC Exam while in final year of Btech Engineering? UPSC stands for Union Public Service Commission. It is an official body which will conduct number of Entrance Exams every year in order to recruit the candidates into various public services like Civil Services Defence Services Forest Service Engineering Service etc. You did not clearly mention the specific UPSC Exam for which you want to know the information regarding the eligibility. Hope it will be IES (Indian Engineering Services) Exam as you are from Engineering background. Here is the eligibility for this Exam. The candidate should have completed Graduation in Engineering with any of the stream from a recognized university. Candidates who are pursuing final year of Engineering course are also eligible to apply for this Exam but they should be able to show the proof of passing in Engineering course by the time they appear for Interview. As you are in the 1st year of Engineering course, it is the right time for you to start preparation for this Exam. Due to this you will be thorough with the all the aspects of written exam by the time you actually apply for it. At the same time, don't neglect your academics as well. Have good preparation for this Exam and crack it. Wish you all the best. |

Eligibility for UPSC exams:-------------------------- >>The candidate must have complete the graduation in any trade from a recognized university. >>Final year candidates are also can apply for the exam. >>No such percentage of aggregate is required. >>The candidates age should be in between 21-30 years. For SC/ST the upper age relaxation is 5 years and for OBC the upper age relaxation is 3 years. >>The candidate should be a citizen of India. These are requirements you have to fulfill. So, no need to worry , you can appear in UPSC exam when you will be in final year of B.tech. All the best.. |

The maximum age limit for General is 30 years, SC/STs is 35 years OBC is 33 years And minimum age limit for all is 21 years, And other age relaxation is also available to Ex-servicemans of selected services etc So evalute yourself on the basis of various classes of age exemptions, Best of Luck. |

Yes you can apply for IPS(Indian Police Service) if you are a student of final year on a provisional basis because there is a provision that final year students can appy for Civil Service Exam(IAS,IPS,IFS etc.) conducted by UPSC every year but after passing preliminary exam you should be eligible for mains only after producing degree of final year for this you should be 21 years of age. A candidate should be more than 21 years and less than 30 years of age as on 1st August, 2010. There are relaxations in age limit for various reserved categories. Let me clarify that there are many exams conducted by the UPSC right from NDA/railway exam for officer position with age group from 17-19 i.e you need to complete your 12th from a institute with PCM background. There are even exams like CDS/IES/IAS/forest officers/Railway officers.So,UPSC is not just a single exam but a group of exams together conducted by a board. If you would have mentioned me the type of exam you need to attempt then i would have provided you the information. Yes you can give the UPSC while you are in final year, but it depends on the exam for which you are applying for (For eg: CDS, civil service..etc) because some of the UPSC exams require you to complete your engineering. It doesn't matters if you have very high rank in exam or you don't have, you will be placed the way you answer in the interview. In case of general category , there are only four attempts. If you apply for UPSC IAS exam in 3rd year, then it has no benefit since even if you clear that you wont be eligible for job in that . Hence it is better that you apply in your final year, into which exam will going to be held in the month of May. And till the time you get the result , you will also clear your btech completely. Dont tell this thing that if you dont get high rank!! Firstly it is not easy to clear even a prelim exam and if you clear whole exam then i think there all posts are having equally importance . All are gazetted post and being an officer in that is never an easy task. |

ITS only required that at the time interview your positive result is declared in your final exam and nothing else. In most of the UPSC exam percentage of marks are not considered only thing required is your best performance in the written exams which are conducted by UPSC. ALL the Best. |

The minimum eligibility criteria for the UPSC exam is that you must be in between the age of 21-30. And you should be an Indian and you must have the graduation degree in your hand.
