To get into the top colleges you need to give an entrance exam but you can also get direct admission in some of the colleges. The admission criteria basically differs from one college to the other. MCA entrance exams are held by many states like maharashtra,kerala,punjab,karnataka,etc. Many university do conduct there seprate exam for admission in MCA like Pune,Delhi,JNU,etc To apply for MAH-MCA-CET a candidate must have a bachelor’s degree with atleast 45% aggregate marks(40% for Maharashtra Backwards Classes). Those in the final year of their graduation can also apply. Candidates also have to be at a minimum age of twenty years as on 01st October of the ensuing year Details related to MCA entrance exam of Maharashtra:- In order to take admission in MCA in Maharashtra state you will be required to appear for netrance exam . The entrance exam is of 200 marks.It consists of 25 questions from General Aptitude & 25 questions from Computer Concepts. Each 25 question paper of GA & CC will make up for 100 marks.Together they sum up to 200 marks. There is negative marking in it.So you should be sure while choosing your options. It is totally option based & no subjective question will be asked. Also for every right answer you will get 4 marks & for every wrong answer you will get -1 marks. Student whose score is negative will be disqualified. Results will be announced in 1st week of April. Important Dates: Date of Entrance Examination: First week of March, 2011 Availability of Application Forms: Mid week of February, 2011 Last Date for receipt of completed application forms: Last week of February, 2011 |

Probability and Statistics: Basic concepts of probability theory, Averages, Dependent and independent events, frequency distributions, measures of central tendencies and dispersions. Algebra: Fundamental operations in algebra, expansions, factorization, simultaneous linear / quadratic equations, indices, logarithms, arithmetic, geometric and harmonic progressions, determinants and matrices. Coordinate Geometry: Rectangular Cartesian coordinates, distance formulae, equation of a line, and intersection of lines, pair of straight lines, equations of a circle, parabola, ellipse, and hyperbola. Calculus: Limit of functions, continuous function, differentiation of function, tangents and normals, simple examples of maxima and minima. Integration of function by parts, by substitution and by partial fraction, definite integrals, applications of definite integrals to areas. Data Representation: Representation of characters, integers and fractions, binary and hexadecimal representations, binary arithmetic: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, simple arithmetic and two’s complement arithmetic, floating point representation of numbers, Boolean algebra, truth tables, Venn diagrams. General English: Questions in this section will be designed to test the candidate’s general understanding of English language.
