Hello Sir myself a passed out B.Tech Mech.Engg.applied 3 times to NPTI entrance test but couldn't crack.Now i am 28 yrs old,working as a lecturer in a Diploma Engineering School so no more way to get into NPTI as age limit exceeds.Is their any good private institution who provides One year PG Diploma in Thermal Power Plant Engineering with all practical facilities,if so please Sir kindly give me details such as institution name etc.Hopig for your answer.Thank You Sir

hello dear

yes,you are eligiable for the Navy after completing B.Tech from M.E branch.

to join in the Navy after completing B.Tech from M.E branch, you have to give UPSC-CDS exam.

eligibility criteria for the CDS exam is given below

>>For Naval Academy: B.Sc. with Physics & Mathematics or Bachelor of Engineering.

>>Age limit:-

For Naval Academy age limit is 19-22 Years.

Hello Friend,

To join in Merchant Navy you should complete graduation.

In Merchant Navy mainly tasks performed in 3 ways:

1)Marine Engineering.

2)Deck Cadet.

3)Nautical Science.

Eligibility Criteria For Merchant Navy:

You should have the subjects maths,physics and chemistry in 12 standard.

If You have to completed marine engineering You can join in merchant navy.

If you have completed mechanical engineering you can join in merchant navy.

You should have a minimum of 55% in graduation.

Age Limit:

The Age should not be more than 25 years.

You have to write entrance exam to join in this course.If you are selected in the exam then you will
get seat in the particular institute.

After qualifying in the entrance you will be trained for one year.

1. U can join merchant navy as Electrical training officer (E.T.O).
It is a 16 week/20 week diploma/degree course after the completion of B.tech/B.E.

2. You can join merchant navy as G.P.RATING after the completion of 10th.

3. You can also join merchant navy as a deck cadet after the completion of 12th with PCM.

HOW TO JOIN MERCHANT NAVY

Courses : Career in Merchant Navy can be pursued either as an officer or a rating in mainly two specialized fields, i.e. Marine Engineering and Nautical (deck). To become a seafarer, following streams of entries (Pre-Sea courses) are available to Indian citizens in the Government as well as in private training institutions (recognized and approved by Director General of Shipping, Ministry of Shipping):-

Officers

3 year degree course in Nautical Science for (10+2) students.

4 year degree course in Marine Engineering for (10+2) students.

2 year course for Diploma Holders.

1 year course for Graduate Mechanical Engineers.

3 month course for Deck Cadets for (10+2) students.

Rating (Entry standard Xth)

4 month Pre-Sea Course for General Purpose (GP) rating.

3 month Pre-Sea Course for Deck rating.

3 month Pre-Sea Course for Engine rating.

4 month Pre-Sea Course for Saloon rating.

In addition, a candidate can join as utility hand or Petty Officers (Fitters) after completing 4 Basic Courses, i.e. FPFF, EFA, PSSR and PST.

Generally CDS consist of the following types :

1. Indian Army
2. Indian Navy
3. Indian Air force.

After 12th or after graduation you can join Indian Navy.As you want to join INDIAN NAVY after graduate then you are also very much eligible for Indian Navy.See you have to take information from different newspapers and websites when the vacancies of Navy will come and according to this you can apply.
You can also apply for N.D.A. and C.D.S. (Common Defense Services). There generally two examination are held for N.D.A., one is N.D.A. - 1 and another is N.D.A. - 2.You can also attempt both this two exam.

Chest = 77 cm (Normal) / 82 cm (Expanding)

Selection Procedure for Merchant NAVY

You can go into this profession through IIT JEE entrance exam. After qualifying screening test of
IIT JEE, you are able to peruse merchant navy course after that you will be eligible for merchant navy jobs.

yes you can go for merchant navy but being a Mechanical engineer why you want to join merchant navy.......better option in same field is why dont you try for indian navy...........think on it..........and make decision.....

Always Indian NAVY is for technical people and give respectful post than Merchant navy.For merchant navy we need just 12th class and Indian NAVY need gaduation this make difference and also pay scale also high for Indian NAVY.

To become a merchant navy officer, one needs to be atleast 10+2 or a diploma holder...but you must have scored more than 60% in PCM in 12th board...............so if you want to go for MERCHANT navy you can.........

There will be 2 year course for Diploma Holders and successful completion you will be join merchant in either of departments

If you have already completed your B.Tech program in Mechanical Engineering, you will need to join a Pre-Sea course.
The duration of the course is 1 years and is offered by Marine Engineering and Research Institute-Mumbai.
After completion of the pre-sea course, you will be eligible to apply for the post of Junior Engineer in any of the merchant ships.
