Its good that you are appearing for this exam.Its an entrance exam for admission in PHD courses and it seems that you are quite a brilliant student...very strong i studies.The syllabus for this exam is common for all candidates irrespective of qualification.The syllabus for JEST Physics is the standard M.Sc.physics syllabus.In particular it presumes that you have taken basic courses in Mathematical physics,Classical Mechanical,Electromagnetic Theory,Quantum Mechanics, Statistical Mechanics and some special subjects such as condensed matter Physics,Electronics and Nuclear Physics etc.

JEST (Joint Entrance Screening Test) is a common examination

on basis of which various research institutions offer admission in

Ph.D. courses.

Also Institute of Mathematical Sciences offers admission in Ph.D.

programme "Theoretical Computer Science" on the basis of JEST ranking.

The joint Entrance Screening Test is a all India level qualifying exam for admissions to Ph.D. programmes in Physics at various top Indian research institutions across India.
Exam is slated for 20th february.

Theoretical Computer Science Eligiblity for P.hd -

M.Sc, M.E, M.Tech, M.C.A in Computer Science and related disciplines, and should be interested in the mathematical aspects of computer science are eligible to appear in JEST Entrance exams.


Important Dates -


Last date for receipt of the filled applications, and ON-LINE submission - January 3, 2011.

JEST - 2011 written test will be held on Sunday, February 20, 2011.

The JEST examination is going to be conducted on February 20,2011. The test mainly comprises of the following concepts:-

Analytical Reasoning and Deduction,Discrete Mathematics,Data Structures and Algorithms,Compilers,Graph Theory,Principles of Programming languages,Software Engineering and other such core concepts in Computer science.

So,you need to have all the basic and foundational aspects of computing to go through this test.Here am providing you the sample question paper along with the notification details,hence please go through it.
