Dear Friend,

Sorry to say but now you are not eligible to apply for the IPS as the minimum educational qualification required for the IPS examination is Graduation and the age of the candidate should be between 21 years to 30 years.

So first complete your graduation and then apply for the Civil Service Examination.The civil service examination is conducted by the UPSC every year.

IPS-INDIAN POLICE SERVICE conducted by UPSC every year through Indian Civil Services exam.

After completion of graduation in Commerce you are eligible for Civil Services exam provided you are completing 21 years of age at the time applying for the exam.

Notification for the exam will be out through both on line in the official web site of UPSC and through paper media. Application can be available from the post offices in off line mode and also you can apply on line for Civil Services exam.

There is certain physical standard required for the aspirants who wants to apply for IPS.

Eligibility Criteria for IPS officer:-

Educational Qualifications :

Graduates in any discipline from a recognized university. Candidates having professional and technical qualifications recognized by the government are also eligible.

For the Indian Administrative Service and the Indian Police Service, a candidate must be a citizen of India

For other services, a candidate must be either :
(a) a citizen of India, or

(b) a subject of Nepal, or

(c) a subject of Bhutan, or

(d) a Tibetan refugee who came over to India with the intention of permanently settling in India. or


Age Limits :

(a) Candidate must have attained the age of 21 years and must not have attained the age of 30 years on the 1st August of the year in which examination is being held.

(b) The upper age limit prescribed above will be relaxable:

(i) upto a maximum of five years for a SC/ST candidate.

(ii) upto a maximum of three years for OBC

(iii) upto a maximum of five years if a candidate had ordinarily been domiciled in the State of Jammu & Kashmir during a particular period
Personal Attributes :

The aspiring candidates are expected to have keen interest in the General Studies and are supposed to have a good amount of interest in current affairs. Regular and detailed reading of a good national newspaper, a standard competition magazine and a basic book on general knowledge is the essential pre-requisite. Another important point is efficient time planning.


Physical Standards :


Candidates must be physically fit according to physical standards for admission to Civil Services Examination.


1:Height-

Minimum height for the Male 165 cm &
for ST 160 cm,for the SC/ OBC,is not

Minimum height for the Female 150 cm &
for ST 145 cm,for the SC/ OBC,is not

2:Chest-

for male minimum 84 cm. expansion 5 cm.
for female minimum 79 cm. expansion 5 cm.


3:Eye Sight-

6/6 or 6/9 distant vision.
J1 for near vision


Number of Attempts:

Every candidate appearing at the Civil Services Examination shall be permitted four attempts at the examination.

this restriction will not apply in the case of Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe (SC/ST), Other Backward Classes(OBC)

Physically Handicapped(PH) candidates who are eligible to avail of reservation applicable to such candidates.

After completion B.Com you are eligible for IPS exam.2nd year student are not eligible for IPS exam.

IPS exam is conducted by UPSC. There are some criteria you have to follow for appearing in IPS exam.

Those candidate have completed graduation in any discipline from recognized university are eligible for IPS exam.

But your age should be in between 21-30years for general candidate.
In IPS exam their is provide age relaxation for OBC candidate is 3years and for SC/ST candidate is 5 years.

The maximum attempts for Sc/ST candidate is Unlimited. For OBC candidate it is 7 years and for general candidate it will be 5 years.

Also you must be citizen of India.


PROCESS BECOME A IPS OFFICER:-


1. Fill up the Application form.
2.Preliminary exam is consist of two papers.
a) General studies -----150 marks
b)From Optional subject -------300 marks
3.If you have qualify in Preliminary exam then you have to go for IPS mains exam
4.After completion of your main exam you have to go for Interview.

EXAM DATE:-

Notification Date - 04/02/2012
Last date of application - 05/03/2012
Preliminary examination - 20/05/2012.

As you are student of B.Com , after completing this degree course you will be eligible to apply for the exam called Civil Service exam, by clearing that only you can become IPS officer.
Civil Service Exam is the common exam for all the Indian Civil Services, This exam is conducted by UPSC.

One more important thing to keep in mind is you should also get 21 years of age while you are applying because that is the minimum eligible age expected by UPSC.

So once after getting your degree certificate and required age you will be eligible to appear for the exam.

Application procedure for Civil Service Exam

->you have to apply for it after a notification.
->You will get application form in few head post offices where you can buy and fill the necessary details and apply in offline method.
->you can also apply online with this link www.upsconline.nic.in
->after that you will receive hall ticket for CSAT you need to get ON to the exam on the exam day.

That is how you need to apply for the Civil Service Exam.
