The choice is totally yours that whether you want to opt for graduation with B.tech degree and later M.tech with masters degree or many of the universities are providing integrated courses also such universities are Lovely Professional University, Punjab University or Thappar University.

Can anybody would suggest me which one is better - (i) Btech Metch dual degree (5 years- as it will save one year) (ii) Btech (4 yrs) for getting better campus placement in NIT Rourkela. If Mtech dual degree is better, whether it is advisable to pursue further studies in MBA after completing Mtech dual degree for more better placement further. Also let me know whether pursuing MBA from NITs is advisable/beneficial for better campus placement/better prospect/job in MNCs or Govt. jobs.

If i m getting B.Tech. Mechanical Engineering & M.Tech. please suggest me because i am very confused with dual degree and regular m-tech;
one problem is also created that if we registered for dual degree then we can't leave it so if we try in any best colleges or gate (m-tech) and qualify then we can't take admission

Re: Which is better? - doing m.tech after b.tech or b.tech+m.tech dual degree?

doing of the m.tech after b.tech is more better because the college which is better for b.tech is not necessary that it will also better for m.tech so do both of the degree from the respective good university or college
ok

Re: Which is better? - doing m.tech after b.tech or b.tech+m.tech dual degree?

Hi dear,

If you choose B-Tech Course, you will get bachelor's degree in Technology after
4 years. If you choose Dual Degree course, you will get both Bachelor's degree
in technology after 4 years and Master's degree in five years. normally if you do
your M-Tech after B-Tech , you will require two years. But if you choose Dual
degree, you get both B-Tech and M-Tech degree within 5 years So, you save
one year if you opt for dual instead of normal master's degree after graduation.

So Both , B-Tech and Dual are fine in IITs. It depends on your choice , whether
you want to do post-graduation course or not.........
Thanks

both are well but i think you should do dual degree course as it will save your 1 year. because if you try to do m.tech after b.tech then it will take 6 year and if you opted to do dual degree course than it will take 5 years . the value is same for both so you can do dual degree course . it would be best if you can get colleges of iits.

Dear friend;

In my opinion doing b.tech+m.tech dual degree is better

than doing first B.tech then M.Tech. Because if you get

admission in b.tech+m.tech dual degree then you are

tension free for getting job or cracking GATE exam.

Note : you save one year if you do b.tech+m.tech dual degree

as an integrated course.

so u should go for the b.tech+ m.tech because in this course u will get 1 year saving then that of doing m.tech after b.tech.

all the best.

Re: Which is better? - doing m.tech after b.tech or b.tech+m.tech dual degree?

dear friend
both m.tech after b.tech or b.tech+m.tech giving same degree . in case of b.tech+m.tech we are getting six year degree course in only four year . it is good only those cases when you get something from it which is very tough because it is almost impossible for simple student to get 6 year degree course in 4 year . so m.tech after b.tech is good for general student.....................

best of luck......................

dear friend,

let me tell u, doing both courses at the same time is not possible...

so first complete ur btech then go for mtech..
if u get admission in good reputed college then only after doing btech u can get good job.

otherwise go for mtech after ur gradation..

my suggestion is first btech then mtech..

all the best..

Re: Which is better? - doing m.tech after b.tech or b.tech+m.tech dual degree?

Dual degree are basically to save one year,if you do B.Tech normally from any recognised institute then it will take 4 years and then M.Tech 2 years....

If you directly go for the dual degree then it takes 5 years ,so here you save one year..

Both the courses have the importance their is no question of good or bad...

All the best...

Re: Which is better? - doing m.tech after b.tech or b.tech+m.tech dual degree?

hello dear

you see, if you are interested to work with your field then you must do mtech.

specially if you want to do research oriented jobs, then MTech is compulsary.

but if you are not interested to work in your engineering field, then it is essential to do MBA.

but one things you shoud remember, for getting promotion in company, MBA is essentially required.

so btech+MBA is very good option for career.

all the best.......

Re: Which is better? - doing m.tech after b.tech or b.tech+m.tech dual degree?

Look dear, it has a good prospect if you do both along side because the simple thing is here is first you are doing bachelor degree and then master degree on same subject, so you are gathering knowledge or better you are getting into the depth of the subject. So, in the very beginning you have to decide is this the thing i want to opt for or something different like getting into the corporate world, if so then better opt for MBA after B.Tech, because it will have a greater prospect than M.Tech, so you have to decide where or what you want to do? If you are thinking to enter the corporate world better opt for MBA after B.tech or want to get into the depth of the subject and later want to do a job of not upto the mark or move for research then opt for m.tech after b.tech.

So, i think i'm able to clear my point ,if you have got any further doubt free to ask here.

Best of Luck,

Re: Which is better? - doing m.tech after b.tech or b.tech+m.tech dual degree?

Good to see that you are so ambitious. With BTech+MTech i assume you are talking about Dual Degree.

If yes then always students who do MTech after BTech are more preferred then those who do dual degree

Dual degree is a 5 year course and BTech and Mtech is 6 years so you save 1 year

But yeah go for MTech after BTech it has much better prospects..

Think about it

Re: Which is better? - doing m.tech after b.tech or b.tech+m.tech dual degree?

I dont see any big difference between them if you are taking an integrated course from a reputed institute. The only thing you need to make sure is that you are choosing the right engineering stream as you need to spend around 5 to 6 of your years in that area doing Btech+Mtech. If you are doing it separately you have the flexibility to choose some other stream like MBA after your Btech. But no major difference.

Re: Which is better? - doing m.tech after b.tech or b.tech+m.tech dual degree?

hello dear ,
if u ask me between these two options than definitely i will recommend you dual degree as it will save your valuable one year .

and this year is not compensated by lowering the level of study or by leaving some topics , for duals you will have double classes per day by which can definitely agitate you for future prospects.

both are treated as same degrees for jobs allotment . so i will recomment you dual for higher study after b.tech ,,.....

best of luck ........!!!

if you are getting btech +mtech combo course from a good college then it it fine to do that because it will save your 1 year. otherwise doing mtech after b tech is preferred because may be you will get job after doing b tech and then there will be no need to do m tech.one thing you should remember that m tech should be done from a good reputed college providing campus placement otherwise you will a lot of problems in finding job.

Dear friend,
Choice of career is yours. Sometimes one should go by the market .you see where your interest goes, ethnicity or managerial.
in my poinion m.tech is more suited technically as engineer.

Re: Which is better? - doing m.tech after b.tech or b.tech+m.tech dual degree?

I think doing m.tech after b.tech is better option than b.tech+m.tech dual degree because dual degree is 5 years course while doing m.tech after b.tech is of 6 years course.
That means in dual degree course you are lacking something or not getting proper knowledge in proper manner.
So doing m.tech after b.tech is better option.

There is no such dual degree which is affliated to any good university.
so firstly do B.tech and then move towards M.tech

Hi friend..
Both are having better future prospects..that depends only you what to choose..Ok let me try to help you..
Dual degree(Btech+Mtech) is good if you dont want to waste your time..
This is a 5 years course..Anyone after 12th can go for this through entrance exam named JEE...The students who do not meet the academic requirement
then they will awarded as btech and they cant go for Mtech in that college...
For Mtech they must have their CPI 6.5 or more than that...For Btech the CPI must be between(5.0 to 6.5)....This is all about dual degree...The colleges which offers the course are some of the colleges of abroad and MIT
which offers all streams..but some IITs (bombay, delhi, kharagpur, madras) offers this course in computer science and engineering only...
Lets come to Mtech after Btech...After Btech you have to give an entrance exan named GATE...if you score extremely well in that exam then you will definitely get a good college with a stipend....It is a 6years course...
Both are having good scope of job...
Just checkout the website for more information...
http://www.cse.iitk.ac.in/acad/dualdegree.htm
GOOD LUCK...
