Re: How much time one should devote for GATE preparation?

There is no problem to start now all you need is proper planning to ace the exam.
Since you are preparing for gate (if not employed) then plan for a study of 10-12 hours daily where you understand the concepts and solve problems related to them.Continue this for about 4 months and complete the syllabus two months in advance of the examination and start taking mock tests seriously and analyse yourself and concentrate on specific concepts where you think you lag behind.

Re: How much time one should devote for GATE preparation?

Gate questions are very basic type which are designed to check whether you have conceptually understood a particular topic. So while preparing, study a topic on application level. To get a high percentile, just cover the entire syllabus by grabbing the basic concept and application method of a particular question.2 months of determined preparation is necessary for this.Solve previous year question papers so that you can understand the pattern of questions.

Re: How much time one should devote for GATE preparation?

Even my brother has given gate twice and the other one after completing his B.Tech and yes he took his own time to prepare for his exam and that was approx 4hours a day.
Gate books of specific fields are also available in shops at Jogeshwari and Thane too.

hi nitin it is possible to clear gate exam in first trial.now you complete your b.tech degree so you have lots of time for preparing.so you can joint classes because you are appearing for first time but in b.tech you have secured good knowledge then you can take material and you can prepare your self.and for gate there are many top colleges so you can see last year cutoff and you can decide it.in most of state for gate coaching there is a gate-foroum and in hydrabad there are crash coarse for gate and after that you can take admission in top colleges.

Re: How much time one should devote for GATE preparation?

first thing that you should keep in mind that you should be satisfied with your decision !
forget the past and ready to face the challenge in the future!

i am suggesting you some tips to prepare for gate exam-

1) Always follow standard books, recommended books to prepare for GATE. Try to cover complete syllabus. If not possible be perfect in whatever portion of syllabus you practice.
2) Prepare notes after finishing every chapter. This will help you during your last days of revision.
3) Practice as many model test papers as possible.
4) While studying a chapter, do ask yourself following questions “What”, “How”, and “Why” and see improvement.
5) Analyze your score in model test papers and compare your performance periodically to see how you improve.
6) In case of doubts ask some expert or use forums to discuss questions prepared by experts.
7) Consult your professors and seniors in case of any doubts.
8) Join a coaching institute if you feel the need.
9) Keep yourself updated about the recent developments in GATE by either logging on to Learnhub or their official site. Check the latest syllabus and paper pattern before you start preparing.
10) Revise

Re: How much time one should devote for GATE preparation?

Since you have only one year left to prepare for this exam so you have to make every day count.
Thus planning needs to be done that way so that you get to spend the maximum time possible for all the subjects.
Many students thrive in competitive environment. So i don't think it is a bad idea to get yourself enrolled in a good coaching institute as well.
Faculty members out there will be able to help you on this better. But if you are confident about yourself and you know you can pull it off on your own, then decide against it.

Re: How much time one should devote for GATE preparation?

Hi Dear friend.

You are really too late. You will have to spend one year now to write GATE.
But one thing, Scoring high in GATE will shine you career like anything. Trust me.
So I will strongly recommend to appear for GATE

Few things about GATE...
* GATE = Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (stated as people seldom know this)
* GATE is conduted on 2nd sunday of February every Year.
* It gives you access to M.Tech in IISc's, IITs, NIT's & many Other Universities.

You have few benefits in writing GATE now...

1. you can prepare exclusively for GATE alloting more time in a day.
2. You could learn things faster as the subjects in GATE are the same what you have
studied in BTech.

So Forget everything and prepare for GATE.
Good Luck.
Thank you.

Re: How much time one should devote for GATE preparation?

Hi
GATE exam has the syllabus same as that of the all Engineering subjects.
If you are final year student then you already studied all the subjects.
SO only you just revision of these subjects.
Daily you spend 2 to 3 hrs time and cover all the subjects.
If you are well in the basic subjects it will helpsto get minimum of 20 to25 marks .

all the best

Re: How much time one should devote for GATE preparation?

Hi nitin! I'm jyothi. Its not required to start ur prep. For gate right 4m ur 3rd yr but wat matters is ur consistent preparation. U said that u've ordered for a postal study course fine then u just need to make a time table which includes priority given to subjects in which u've interest, wat materials to be gathered,hw much time to be spent on prep. Per day (as preparing for subject and practicing previous questions),text books to be followed. If u r an avg student then i suggest u to prepare for atleast 8 subjects til the exam then undoubtly u wil crack gate. wish u good luck. Have wonderful preparation.

Hi Friend

Suggestion and Preparation tips recommended by Topper’s for GATE

GATE is an exam that tests you on your fundamentals. The questions are generally derivations of the fundamentals

GATE paper has a huge syllabus, so it is almost impossible to cover the whole syllabus thoroughly. So one should concentrate on important subjects like to get good score on gate exam you should prepared 4 to 5 subject perfectly . as most of question came on gate are form circuit theory ,control system, math, analog digital communication so if you prepare these subjects confidently you should get a good gate score

solve previous year's test papers. which gives you a fair idea of what the actual paper would be like. It also brushes up your basics and exposes your 'areas of improvement'. Analyzing your test results is a very important part of taking the test. If you do not analyze, the test does not add value. You should minutely analyze and define as to where you could have scored more; analyze your accuracy rates in various topics and maintain a topic wise datasheet which lists your performance topic wise for different test papers. So one should concentrate on important subject.

Follow & remember these things seriously, I assure you definitely Beat GATE Exam

"Don’t hesitate to drop a comment if you have any question or would like to share some more information"

Good Luck!!!!

Re: How much time one should devote for GATE preparation?

GATE is an exam which asks your knowledge that you have acquired in your graduation. So if you see it like this , you have 4 full years or 3 full years for your preparation.

Now its very good that you have applied for a study material.

I don't consider anything late. Whenever you want, you decide things for yourself. So as of now, you have decided to give GATE.

I would suggest, one year when you have it already give it fully to the preparation, and come out in your GATE exam with flying and soaring colours. If you get into any one of the IIT's, that itself would give you a good brand!

So start preparing from right now, and be determined to excel in this one year. Achieve your goal, and this one year would get lost in the story of your success.

All the Best.

Dear Friend,

You will not get the time back so there is no need to bother about that.It is true that you would have got benefit if you had prepared from your 3rd year but it is not too late and you can still prepare and secure a good rank next year.So there is no need to panic just prepare best for the exam.As you have already applied for postal preparation then relax and prepare.Follow the guidelines you get from the institute..

Best Wishes....

Re: How much time one should devote for GATE preparation?

well, here in NIT ( my college) we say that we need to start preparing for GATE from December of that academic year. that is around a time of 3 months is required,
but all that depends upon your basic understanding of the subject, and also your skills in learning.

you need good materials for that and the right strategy.

PREPARATION :-

You can either prepare for the exam yourself, or approach a coaching institute.

REPUTED COACHING INSTITUTES ARE:

1.ACE ACADEMY, Hyderabad.

2. P.C THOMAS CLASSES,Thrissur.

If you are preparing yourself, some of the good books that will help you are

1.MADE EASY Publication

2.Khanna publication.

3. G.K Publishers ( contains a little bit of mistakes).

I guess this would be sufficient. and once you start your preparation, hang onto it.
try your level best. atleast 3 months preparation would be necessary.

All The Best !!!...

Re: How much time one should devote for GATE preparation?

alright,
GATE is not really known to be a the tough exam. it is an exam that is a direct application of what you have studied. definitely, you dont need to start preparing from the 3rd year ( if you know the basics ).. usually you need around 3 months time to prepare it. ( thats what we say here in the NIT )..

Still, you have plenty of time left to start studying. Start right from this moment.

Also they have extended the date for sending the GATE application.. i.e you can send the application even now. send it fast and start preparing ..

All The Best !!!! ....

Re: How much time one should devote for GATE preparation?

Hi dear..
As you also know for any exam earlier preparation must be required if you want to score best in that particular exam.
Since GATE is one of the exam in which you need attention at the starting of your graduation. But don't worry you are not to late . If you are well in your academics and all the concepts are clear to you then you are not too late for this exam.
Just do one thing devote your time more on this so that you can recover your time easily.
GOOD LUCK..
Thank you
