IPS - Indian Police Service and to become an IPS officer one has to apply, appear and crack Civil Service Exam being conducted every year by UPSC after Graduation in any stream so being student of BCA(Bachelor of Computer Application) after completion of which you are eligible to apply for IPS, Civil Service Exam.

The eligible candidate must be an Indian national having either appear for the final Graduation Degree exam or pass in any stream from a recognised University within the age of 21 to 30 years with upper age relaxation for reserved candidate with good Physical Fitness.

Apart from this the candidate should have minimum physical requirement such as:-

HEIGHT:- General/OBC Male - 165cm and Female-150cm while SC/ST Male-160cm and Female-145cm.

CHEST:- Male - 84cm while Female - 79cm expandable to 5cm in both the cases.

The selecton is through three phases:-

-CSAT - Civil Service Aptitude Test - Preliminary Exam comprises of objective type questions.

-Civil Service Main Exam comprises of subjective type questions.

-Personal Interview

The acronym for IPS is Indian Police Services.

The Indian Police Service is one of the three All India Services civil services of the Government of India.

The IPS is not a law enforcement agency; rather it is a civil service in which officers are selected on the basis of professional merit as proven by competitive examinations, and to which all senior police officers are professionally identified.

Police officers are employed by the police departments of respective states of India.

IPS examination is conducted by UPSC(Union Public Service Commission) every year.

The eligibility criteria required for the IPS examination are prescribed as below:-

* Completion of graduation in any discipline from any recognized college or university.

* Final year contenders are also eligible.

* Age limit:- 21-30 yrs.

* Age relaxation:- 3 yrs for OBc and 5 yrs for SC/ST contenders.

* Nationality:- Indian.

* Physical eligibility:-



The selection procedure for the IPS examination is mentioned as below:-

* Preliminary examination.

For aplying for the exam you can hold graduation degree or you can apply for it in the final year of your graduation and you can apply online at www.upsconline.nic.in

Also for previous year papers either you check the upsc website or you can also chk in the market or on internet...

Since you are in standard 12th it is a benefit to you ,so to be a IPS officer you have to appear for the entrance exam of the conducted by the UPS C ,to appear for exam you must fulfill the eligibility criteria that is min graduation from any field age should be above or 18 ,the UPS C exam is divided into 3 parts that are; pre.exam, main exam, and an interview .
For the IPS you need to be good in GK, GS and about the current affairs .In the interview its always said that the things cumming under sky can be asked .For general only 4 attempts and 7 attempts to Obc.

the minimum educational qualification for this examination is , you must have graduation degree from a recognized college.
stream in graduation is does not matters.


The age limit exist for this examination is 21-30 years for the GENERAL candidates,
21-33 years for the OBC candidates,
21-35 years for the SC\ST candidates.

This CIVIL SERVICE EXAMINATION has three stages-
1. CSAT
2.MAINS
3.INTERVIEW(PERSONALITY TEST).




No. of attempts-
four for the GENERAL candidates,
seven for the OBC candidates,
no such restriction for the SC\ST candidates.

also you must posses Indian nationality.

do become a IPS officer you need to write civil services exam conducted by UPSC.
you can apply for civil services exam after BCA as the eligibility of the exam only includes:
Eligibility for the exam is:
Nationality:indian or indian by origin
Academic: minimum a bachelors degree from any recognized university in any discipline
Age:minimum of 21 years and maximum of 30 years
Numbers of attempts: OC-4, OBC-7 and SC/ST-no limit

IPS - Indian Police Service


IPS is a Indian Service Exam and the exam is conducted by UPSC and is conducted ever year.

Of course you can apply for the IPS exam after doing BCA as you may need only a degree to appear for this exam.

The eligibility which you would need are:

Eligibility:
  1. The candidates must be a citizen of India.
  2. The candidates must have a age limit of 21-30 years.
  3. For SC/ST-35
  4. For OBC-33
  5. For Ex-service men 5 years from the prescribed limits.
  6. The candidates must have a degree from arecognized university.
  7. The candidates who are writing their final degree exam are also eligible to apply.
  8. The candidates who are selected as IAS or IFS in the previous exam cannot apply for the IPS exam.

Sir.i am doing a correspondence course from IGNOU . Will my bachelor s degree be recognised for the civil service examinations ? I am doing BCA. Its a government university and is recognised by the necessary authorities.

yes you are eligibile to write the UPSC civil service examination after compliting your BCA .
There requred quilifecation a graduation degree from any recognised university.

Eligibile age limit is 21 to 30 years.

Eligiblity Criteria for Civil Service Exam EXAM:

Educational Qualification:Graduation degree from a recognized university.

Indian Police Service exam is conducted by UPSC in every year.
IPS officer job is a high level job of India.

Educational Qualification For IPS :

The minimum educational qualification for IPS exam is graduation in any
stream from a recognize University.

Age Criteria :

The age must be between 21 to 30 years at the time of appearing of
IPS exam. Reservation category will get age relaxation on the upper
age.

IPS is a government job which is conducted every year by UPSC (Union Public Service Commission ).
