HI

Eligibility for IAS officer,

You should be Indian
Your age should be in between 21-30 years
you should have done your graduation from recognized institute/college

IAS has three stages for selection

Preliminary Stage
Main Stage
Interview

Those who qualify preliminary and main are invited for Interview

It would be better to join any good coaching in your area for preparing for IAS.
Apart from coaching it is advisable to do self study for atleast 4 hour.
Apart from subject you choose, your general awareness should also be very good.
Keep yourself updated with newspaper and magazines like India today or competitive success

Re: How to prepare for IAS Officer's exam? Procedure for the exam for 12th standard Arts stream student?

First of all you have to do gradation in any field.
Then apply for Civil Services Examination conducted by UPSC. It conducts:-
1. Preliminary Examination containing objective type questions
2. Qualified Candidates then give Mains Examination that has 7-8 essays to be written
3. Candidates who qualify the Mains Exam as well are called for personality test
Then the final list is evaluated
Best Of Luck

Well Friend,

It is good that you want to start your preparation this early since there is lot of time for you to be eligible for civil services.
As long as you are in school I suggest you to read newspaper regularly. It has to be either Times Of India, Hindustan Times or The Hindu.
In college, you should start your true preparations by reading various informative magazines and periodicals such as Competition Success Review, Frontline, India Today etc. along with the newspaper.
