Well,in this case, being Deemed university is not a great problem, but you have to be from any recognised college either deemed or any college. if your college/university is recognised by UGC, then you are okay to write this exam.

Here is the details about your educational qualification:-

>>You must hold any degree in any discipline from any recognized university,AICTE/AMIE/UGC etc.

>>Final year degree students who will obtain degree by August 1, 2013 are also eligible for writing pre examination CSAT 2013

>>Remember that you can be of any class (distinction, first, second etc.)

>>Degree obtained by distance education/open university is also eligible if the university is recognised.

For any information about UPSC eligibility and notification, you can log into: www.upsc.gov.in

Hope this helps!! Cheers!!!

Yes, you will have problems to pursue your goal. Not because of the recognition of the university you are studying in but because of your incorrect language. So don't bunk English classes they are equally important.

Re: Is deemed university a problem?

Any university duly granted Deemed Univeristy Status by UGC will have a degree of equal status as far as India is concerned. One can even challenge in court, if there is a discrimination shown in the degree.
Some of the key points one needs to consider before choosing a Deemed University are:
(a) If you plan to go for a PG course abroad, many state run universities abroad do not consider Deemed University degrees on par with Degrees offered by Regular Universities in India. So, it is wise to check with such foreign universities abroad well in advance if you want to apply for (say MBA etc.,)
(b) Many a times Deemed University Authorities take certain power and control to their advantages - right from curricula design, to syllabus setting, to adapting teaching methodology, to laboratory practices, to conduction of necessary instruction duration, to assessment and evaluation etc., etc.,
these factors sometimes affects the quality of learning of a student.
(c) Any University or Institution should not be chosen just for years of existence, or buildings and infrastructure, nice corridors, granite flooring, nice garden etc., - an Institution needs to be chosen for (a)Learning Culture (b)Quality and Professionalism of Teachers (c)Research Culture etc., (after all we may study 3/4 years in that institution, its only learning one should be concerned about - others are always extra only)

Re: Is deemed university a problem?

The status of deemed university is given to a college if the college performance and other facilities to students are good. All the colleges will not be able to get the status of deemed university.

As you are feeling, there will not be that much problem by studying in a deemed university.

As you told that 25 years of age for your college. So they will definitely take the advantage of status of deemed university.

Being a deemed university, everything is under the control of them in planning the academic curriculum, selection of subjects, number of students permitted and all other aspects.

If any college after getting the deemed status, if they misuse that status there is every chance that that status is going to be cancelled.

Re: Is deemed university a problem?

now these days.

the MHRT ministry is very tough on the matter of the deemed university.

they are very much sensitive to ward the quality as well as the rule regulation of the deemed university.

so it may be dark for the future for the that demeed university.

but no need to worry.

if such thing will occur you will be placed in the other collge.

Re: Is deemed university a problem?

dear friend,

I don't think that you will face any problem regarding the deemed status of your college..

Deemed university must not be a problem for appearing in any type of exam..

To apply for IAS you must have graduation from a recognized university...So as your university is a recognized one you can surely apply for IAS exam

All the best!

i thank all of you for the information you gave. it cleared my doubt. chance if i get an arrear in any of the 4 years . will that affect ? then another doubt i have is that before all i used read a lot and was kind of preparing for it but now i don't . i have read in many IAS winners interview that just 1 year preparation is enough. is that really so? and i have my parents to give me guidance especially my father. but i wish if i could talk to a person in that field or anyone preparing for it . would you just tell me wish subject would be the best to opt for as i have taken civil engineering.?
