Re: Should I study any other book in 10th standard apart from NCERT?

If you are studying for the board exams then I would suggest you that you go through the entire NCERT textbook thoroughly atleast once.
Once you have done that then you should go for the guides published by Arihant.

These are available for every subject but you should buy it only for Science(Physics,Chemistry,Maths,Biology).

For the rest of the subjects only going through the entire textbook is enough.

NCERT is sufficient if you study it thoroughly. But if you require additional practice or you want to study deeper then you can go for the following books:

-Mathematics- R.D. sharma, together with
-chemistry- pradeep's
- physics and biology- s.chand
- english- BBC
-social science- evergreen

Dear Himanshu,

Books to be studied

If you want to clear the AISSE examination only then you can stick to NCERT.
If you want to gain some extra information on your subject then you can go for the following books:
  • Mathematics By R.D. Sharma
  • Together With English Communicative
  • Pradeep's --- Physics
  • Pradeep's / ABC --- Chemistry

Pradeep will notonly offer you questions for AISSE but will also help you in solving IITJEE/AIEEE based questions.

Together With English will give a detailed overview of your chapters...

Best of Luck For your preparations:..!!

Re: Should I study any other book in 10th standard apart from NCERT?

No there is no need of study other books apart from NCERT in 10th standard because total paper of 10th class comes from NCERT.
However if you are good in study and you have interest in study then you can look for RD sharma ,Pradeep etc. books for enhanced your knowledge...

HI dear,

you can refer to other books too for concept clearity

NCERT books explain the concepts in brief, so to get

better hold of concepts you should read other books

ex. R.S.Aggarwal
S.chand P/C/B

however questions generally appear form NCERT and

for exam time NCERT are the best book, you will get maximum marks by following

NCERT

Thanks

Dear friend, I would suggest you to thoroughly read your NCERT books and solve each and every questions of it.
If you face any difficulty, approach your teacher.

However if you are left with time then you may refer to some science subjects like:

MATHEMATICS: R S Aggarwal
PHYSICS & CHEMISTRY: S.Chand books multicolor edition

THANK YOU

Very good question.

Not all subjects in CBSE/NCERT Class 10 require reference books or help books. But in subjects like Maths, I would suggest you must have additional help books or Guide books.

Reason.

The prescribed NCERT books doesn't have enough practice questions or say tips that helps students to understand the subject and to face the exam confidently. And here reference or say guide books comes into picture.

One can view the list of CBSE Class 10 Mathematics books here in Bukwit.com.

For other subjects, the prescribed books [I suppose] are enough.

Hope you find it useful.

Re: Should I study any other book in 10th standard apart from NCERT?

as per the syllabus of the CBSE 10th board you should follow the NCERT books
but if you didn't understand anything from the CBSE text book then you can refer the side books as a reference that would clear your concept ..
for the maths side book is R S Aggarwal
for the Phy and Che S.Chand books multicolor edition
there side books will help you a lot in future also.......

yes. To enhance your knowledge about particular subject like maths, science etc, you should prefer books like R.D sharma for maths. It will help you to practice more and more questions and will help you to overcome difficulties in coming board examination.

Re: Should I study any other book in 10th standard apart from NCERT?

Hello,
you have not mentioned your current exam board (whether CBSE or state board), although if you are from CBSE board then NCERT books will be very very beneficial for you, not just in board exams, in further entrance exams also.
And if you are from state board then first you should consult with your subject teachers, moreover the books from Upkar, Shivalal, Unified publications are recognised as good books for board exams.
Ok, best of luck.

Re: Should I study any other book in 10th standard apart from NCERT?

hello himanshu
well in class 10 there is no such need to refer any sidebook if you have done N.C.E.R.T with deep concepts......
you just need to get the concepts on your tips rather than to cramble many books
so just try to do each and every concept clearly.....
all the best

Re: Should I study any other book in 10th standard apart from NCERT?

Yes, you should prefer a sidebook rather than NCERT. You should use-
RD Sharma for Maths.
S Chand (Lakhmir Singh) for Science.
BBC for English.
