Re: Any scope for Girls in Merchant Navy? Of course girls can join merchant Navy. This process can be done by appearing Indian Maritime University (IMU) examination.On succesful completion the result will be declared and further process will be started by IMU. |

Because of many advantages such as bring on a cruise, roaming the world for free, extremely high salary packages, and less service tenure, among others, a career in merchant navy is a craving for almost all young boys who clear schools and colleges and rub their feet to make an entry into the professiona..But so far as the Girls are concerned then there is not too much scope for girls in merchant Navy as the staffs of Merchant Navy spent their 6 months on the deck.So they have to go for long journey for 6 months continuously from one country to other country.But its very difficult for girls to separate with their families after marriage so its better for you to join in the army. |

But There are lot of Entries for Girls in Indian Navy, i.e In Naval Architect , Law , Logistics, Aviation , ATC and Education Branches. 1. Permanent Commission Through CDSE Naval Academy, Qualifications needed is B.Sc with Physics and Maths or BE and must be 19 to 22 years of age Through Direct Entry Law Cadre in which Qualifications needed is only Degree in Law with minimum 55% marks with 22 to 27 years age permissible. Through Direct Entry Naval Armament Inspection Cadre Qualifications needed BE or PG degree in Electronics or Physics with 19 to 25 years of Age. Even Short Service Commission is also a Mode to Get into Merchant Navy 2. Short Service Commission (Men and Women) Through Law Cadre in which Qualifications needed is Degree in Law with minimum 55% marks with an age of 22 to 27 years only. Through Logistics Cadre in which Qualifications needed is BA(Econs)/B.Com with second division with an age of 19 to 25 years only. Through Air Traffic Control (ATC) is also a Mode in which Qualifications are B.Sc with minimum 50% marks in Physics and Maths needed with an age of 19 to 25 years.
