books that you can buy for prilimilnary exam : you can buy TATA McGRAW HILL for aptitude and reasoning, this book is one of best books I have seen, don’t know why nobody refer this ,maybe due to lack of marketing very few are aware of it. for GS newspapes are best source. also use R S AGGARWAL MAGICAL BOOKS OF BSC(publication) and also go on website www.indiabix.com here you will find every bit of what you need for aptitude and reasoning. BEST OF LUCK

There are various books which you can prefer for CSAT Preliminary.Since the Syllabus is mainly divided into General English, Indian History, Geography, Indian Economy. The Question paper format is split into paper 1 and Paper 2.

Paper 1
Current events:- Going through newspapers like "The Hindu" will be sufficient.

Indian History:-For Indian history, apart from referring NCERT text books from class 8 to 10, Goyal Brothers Prakashan ICSE 8th to 10th you can even refer India’s Struggle for Independence by Bipin Chandra.

Indian Economy:-The Economic Survey released by the Finance Ministry every year before the budget is a must-read for Indian economy else you can even go through go through Datt and Sundharam’s Indian Economy.

Indian Polity and governance:-You can refer a number of books for this section some of the books you can prefer are :-
An Introduction to the Constitution of India by DD Basu, Our Constitution by Subhash Kashyap, and India’s Constitution by MV Pylee.

Paper 2
Logical reasoning and analytical ability,Data interpretation you can refer books of Arun Sharma. For English language comprehension skills (Class X level) you can refer books of Wrien and Martin.

You can even refer books by Unique Publication,Arihant Publication for overall rough preparation of CSAT.You can get the books online in websites like http://www.books4u.in

Since you have not mentioned your locality hence i cannot give you the name's of book store's but the books will be available in your city's main books store.
