To become a Asst Professor in a Government college you nee dthe below qualifications:

>> Post Graduation pass with minimum 55% marks
and
>> UGC-NET qualified in your subject
OR

So apart from Post Graduation you need to ahve qualified UGC NET or should have done PHD

dear sir,
recently, AICTE has said that there is very shortage o f lecturers in engineering colleges .So, B.Tech holders can teach their juniors .Can MA or MSc not become lecturers in engineering
colleges . is phd necessary for applied science. in my opinion when m.tech is exempted for b.tech then phd too should be exempted for applied science. Why can't they teach b.tech?
plz inform me.

Hi dear,

According to me -
I think that according to your achievements in your whole career you are quite eligible as a senior lecturer in the govt university.

There are qualifications like B.Sc, MCA that you have achieved and these can avail you a good job in the computer science department.

Thanks

Re: Eligibility for Lecturer Post in any Government Recognized University? Is PHD necessary?

For the post of lecturer in any government recognized university, you will have to give NET exam. This exam is conducted by UPSC.
But you can also apply at your own in any university. But for this Ph. D. is a necessary qualification.
Generally master's degree is the minimum qualification for lecturer post in a govt. university.

Re: Eligibility for Lecturer Post in any Government Recognized University? Is PHD necessary?

I have a question... I have M.Sc in Physics with 63% (Calcutta University)..Now I am doing PhD in Aerospace Engg & Applied Mechanics, So after successful thesis submission n all that, I will get a degree Ph.D.(Engg.) ... So, then, can I apply for the Lectureship in Colleges in Dept. of Science(Physics)... ??? Or, I have to be Ph.D.(Science) holder or NET cleared to apply for Lectureship in Physics Dept.... ??? Again, with M.Sc. Physics and Ph.D.(Engg.) background can anyone apply for Lectureship in Engg colleges like Fluid Mechanics Dept.(in my case) or say Applied Mathematics Dept. with Fluid Mechanics, Hydraulics Dept. or so... ??

I really want to know these questions.... with M.Sc.(Physics) and Ph.D. in Engg. can I apply for Lectureship post in colleges for Dept. of Science(Physics) or I have to be Ph.D. in Science ...??? Or, I have to be NET cleared if I end up with Ph.D. in Engg. not in Science.....

Hello,
