Syllabus details for MPSC Civil Services Exam

For Preliminary Exam

Paper I - Total marks 200 and number of questions will be 100.
  1. Current events of State,National and International Importance.
  2. History of India and Indian National Movements.
  3. Maharashtra,Indian and World Geography-Physical,Socil and Economic,Geography of Maharashtra,India and World.
  4. Maharashtra and Indian Politics and its Governments.
  5. Economic and Social Developments.
  6. General Issues on Environmental Ecology,Bio-Diversity and Climate Change.
  7. General Science.
Paper II - Total marks 200 and number of questions will be 100.
  1. Comprehension - Introduction to Comprehension.
  2. Marathi and English Language Comprehension.
  3. Interpersonal and Communication Skills.
  4. Decision Making and Problem Solving.
  5. General Mental Ability.
  6. Logical Reasoning and Analytic Reasoning.
  7. Data Interpretation and Data Sufficiency.
For Mains Exam


There will be 6 papers in MPSC Mains Exam.
For Candidates who belong from Open category will require 45% marks in each paper to pass this exam.
For Candidates who belong from the Reserved Category will require 40% marks in each paper to pass this exam.
For every 2 Wrong answer 1 marks will be deduced.

  1. English(100 Marks) - Descriptive Type Questions.
  2. Marathi(100 Marks) - Descriptive Type Questions.
  3. General Studies Paper I(150 Marks) - Objective Type questions and Total duration - 2 hours.
  4. General Studies Paper II(150 Marks) - Objective Type questions and Total duration - 2 hours.
  5. General Studies Paper III(150 Marks) - Objective Type questions and Total duration - 2 hours.
  6. General Studies Paper IV(150 Marks) - Objective Type questions and Total duration - 2 hours.
