While generally reserved for professional space travelers, the terms are sometimes applied to anyone who travels into space, including scientists, politicians, journalists, and tourists. QUALIFICATION BACHELOR'S DEGREE IN ENGINEERING BIOLOGICAL SCIENCE PHYSICAL SCIENCE COMPUTER SCIENCE OR MATHEMATICS EXPERIENCE YEARS EXPERIENCE OF RELEVANT PROFESSION OR 1000 hours of pilot-in-command in jet aircraft. Re: How to become an Astronaut after completion of 12th Class from Science stream? you can do B.tech in aeronautic engineering from IIT bombay or IIT kanpur for that you have to clear the entrance exam IIT-JEE OR you can join B.tech in aeronautic engineering in NITS at TIRUCIL and ROURKELA and BITS after clearing exam like AIEEE. You can also do BE in aeronautical engineering at the INDIAN INSTITUTION OF AERONAUTICAL ENGINEERING DEHRADUN and at madras institute of technology in chennai. as NASA takes in specialist from different discipline including aeronautical engineering. NASA selects astronauts from a diverse pool of applicants with a wide variety of backgrounds. From the thousands of applications received, only a few are chosen for the intensive Astronaut Candidate training program. The National Aeronautics and Space Administration announce the opportunity to apply for the position of Astronaut Candidate to support the International Space Station Program. Selections are made on an as needed basis. NASA announces candidates every two years, selecting about a hundred men and women out of thousands of applicants. For further details check www.nasajobs.nasa.gov/ astronauts/default.htm.�Those who opt for this field should pass their plus two examination under the science stream, especially in physics and math's. For pursuing a career in theoretical or observational astronomy one may go through the science stream after plus two. Since universities offering undergraduate programme in Astronomy are rarely found, one can join for a major/ honours in Physics with Mathematics as a subsidiary subject. Thereafter, take a master's degree in Physics or Astronomy. After the successful completion of MSc, one can do specialization in astronomy leading to Ph.
