dear friend,

Civil Services Examination is the most prestigious examination conducted by the Union Public Service Commission for recruitment to various All India Services including I.A.S. , I.P.S., I.F.S.,I.R.S., and various Group A Services and Group B Services.

Normally applications are invited by UPSC notifications in leading News Papers during December every year.

The Civil Services Examination consists of three stages.

* Civil Services Preliminary Examination ( Objective Type) (Usually
conducted in May)

October/November)
* Interview and final Selection (During April/May)

Indian Administrative Service

The entrance exam to become an IAS officer is Civil Service Exam. This exam is conducted by UPSC every year.
This entrance exam consists of three levels.

Level-1 - CSAT.
Level-2 - Mains.
Level-3 - Personal Interview.

For CSAT, You should compete with all the applicants in that particular year with common syllabus.
This will be like a high level aptitude exam conducted by Top MNC's along with general knowledge and some political affairs.

Only the cleared candidates will be promoted to next level i.e., Mains.
In mains, you will be competing with the filtered candidates of first level.
In this level you should clear a few compulsory subjects and also two optional subjects.

Optional subjects: Subjects which are selected by the applicant from the pre-defined list designed by UPSC.
Here is the pre-defined list of UPSC.

>>Agriculture
>>Management
>>Animal Husbandry & Vetinary Science
>>Mathematics
>>Anthropology
>>Mechanical Engineering
>>Botany
>>Medical Science
>>Chemistry
>>Philosophy
>>Civil Engineering
>>Physics
>>Commerce & Accountancy
>>Political Science & International Relations
>>Economics
>>Psychology
>>Electrical Engineering
>>Public Administration
>>Geography
>>Sociology
>>Geology
>>Statistics
>>Indian History
>>Zoology
>>Law

As you have stressed chemistry subject(May be your degree related subject).
No matter, you can select the relating optional of your interested background or others too.

after preparation for Mains you have to give a good attempt of mains exam, which will be of essay type paper pattern.

@ after that personal interview.
@ and then results.
@ if you get a good rank then you will get your desired service.

This is the procedure how to become an IAS officer.

all the very best.
