Dear friend IES Stands for Indian Engineering Services.The Indian Engineering Services examination is conducted by Union Public Service Commission Once in a every year. **No of Attempts :- -->General category candidates - 4 times -->OBC category Candidates - 7 times -->SC/ST category candidates - No Limit **Age limit:- Age should be between 21 years to 30 years for General category candidates. Age relaxation for OBC category candidates 3 years And for SC/ST category candidates it is of the 5 years. If you have completed Bachelor's degree in Engineering discipline in following branches of engineering course then you are eligible for IES exam :- - Civil Engineering - Electrical Engineering - Mechanical engineering. - Electronics and Communication Engineering. The applicant age should between 21 yrs to 30 yrs.Age relaxation is provide for SC/ST/OBC candidate. If you are from different departments of Engineering then also you are eligible for IES exam.But you should give the entrance exam with above departments. The IES Exam is one of the UPSC Examinations conducted every year by the Union Public Service Commission. The Basic Requisites for IES Exam are : * The minimum educational qualification required is graduation in engineering in any stream from any recognized college/university. * The candidate must have to choose any one stream from the below mentioned streams : 1) Civil Engineering 2) Mechanical Engineering 3) Electronics & Communication Engineering 4) Electronics & Electrical Engineering * The Age limit for IES Exam is 21-30 years for those candidates who belong to Open Category. * Relaxation in upper age is given to OBC and SC/ST candidates as follows : - OBC Candidates get a relaxation of 3 years in upper age. - SC/ST Candidates get a relaxation of 5 years in upper age. IES stands for INDIAN ENGINEERING SERVICE conducted by UNION PUBLIC SERVICE COMMISSION(UPSC) for recruitment of Engineers in the top technical post in the Civil/Electrical/Mechanical/Electronics and Telecommunication Dept. under Central Govt. Only Engineering Graduates from any recognised University is eligible for IES. Besides the candidate must be an Indian National within the age of 21 to 30 years with upper age relaxation for reserved candidate. The selection is through written exam followed by personal interview. The written exam is based on the subjects from Civil/Electrical/Mechanical/Electronics and Telecommunication branch. Examination The Exam is conducted by Union Public Service Commission(UPSC) in the month of June India wide. There are objective as well as conventional (descriptive) papers. One paper for GS (General Studies) is part of the assessment system apart from the engineering subject of the candidate. The entire technical subject is divided into two papers (PAPER I and PAPER II). There is a three day schedule of the written examination, comprising all five written examination. The first day is allocated for the General Studies (GS) paper. This exam is of 2 hrs duration. On the first day there is just one exam. This exam consists of General studies and General English.Paper is maximum of 200 marks The second day is allocated for the Objective Papers. There are two objective exams for each paper separately and each being of 2 hrs in duration. Each Paper is maximum of 200 marks The third day is allocated for the Conventional papers. There is one subjective exam for each paper separately and each being of 3 hrs in duration. Students with M.Sc degree in areas like electronics, radio physics, radio engineering or wireless communication can also apply. At the most you can give the exam for four times. Selection procedure includes written test and personality test. Written test pattern:- Paper I-(objective type) Part A: general english Part B: general studies Part II & III- (objective type) civil engineering/ mechanical engineering/ electrical engineering/ electronics and telecommunication engineering. Provided that this restriction on the number of attempts will not apply in the case of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes candidates who are otherwise eligible. Provided further that the number of attempts permissible to candidates belonging to Other Backward Classes, who are otherwise eligible shall be seven. The relaxation will be available to the candidates who are eligible to avail of reservation applicable to such candidates. Provided further that a physically handicapped will get as many attempts as are available to other non-physically handicapped candidates of his or her community, subject to the condition that a physically handicapped candidate belonging to the General Category shall be eligible for seven attempts. Re: Maximum number of attempts for IES Exam? HI, The number of attempts for IES is limited by AGE. For General Category Maximum Age limit is 24 and for OBC Maximum Age Limit is 33. Hence they can try for 9 more Years. BUT they only get 7 ATTEMPTS. BEST OF LUCK |
