Re: Can BSc Computer Science student apply for GATE? Dear Aspirant, Sorry to say that you cannot apply for a Engineering Entrance exam. Because this is an Engineering exam for the Btech students only. It is a entrance exam by which the btech students can go for the Mtech course in future by this course. The marks obtained by the GATE will be applicable for 2 years.So he can go for present year or the next year. Most of the students go for the GATE exam because there is a chance of getting seat in the IIT's and NIT's.So they prepare in such a way that they only aim for those top colleges. Which can be a great change in their life so it becomes as a great asset if they get admissions in IIT/NIT. If you want to go for the PG course.Since you have done the Bca you can go for MBA or MCA. There are exams by which you can get the seats in the state level top colleges. The exam is called ICET exam.This exam gives you chance of getting seat in either MCA or MBA. The students who persued their b.tech.....can go for higher studies through gate entrance exam for m.tech.... You can try for mba......icet exam or cat exam.... Dont worry....... No my friend you can't appear .. minimum qualification is a four year degree after 10+2.. you must be a degree holder or should be in final year of such degree.. on the upside you can use this idea.... if you like then enroll in in masters degree..computer application etc. then you can appear in gate... wishes diego |

Hello No you cannot apply for the gate exam because this examination is for the students who have completed their engineering and want to study masters in engineering. Since you are a graduate student in B.Sc so its quite not possible for you to apply for gate. More details regarding gate exam is given below: The following categories of candidates are eligible to appear in GATE: * Bachelor's degree holders in Engineering/Technology/Architecture/Pharmacy and those who are in the final or pre-final year of such programmes. * Master's degree holders in any branch of Science/Mathematics/Statistics/Computer Applications or equivalent and those who are in the final or pre-final year of such programmes. * Candidates in the second or higher year of the Four-year Integrated Master's degree programme (Post-B.Sc.) in Engineering/Technology or in the third or higher year of Five-year Integrated Master's degree programme and Dual Degree programme in Engineering/ Technology. * Candidates with qualifications obtained through examination conducted by professional societies recognised by UPSC/AICTE as equivalent to B.E./B.Tech. Those who have completed Section A or equivalent of such professional courses are also eligible. GOOD LUCK |

Re: Can BSc Computer Science student apply for GATE? Sorry my dear friend, B.Sc completed students are not eligible for GATE exam. This will be an entrance exam for M.tech and M.pharm, so students who have completed b.pharm and btech are eligible to attempt for this exam. Anyway after B.Sc you may eligible for Icet and MAT for joining MCA AND MBA. Some other entrance exams conducted by several universities for joining M.SC in various specializations. Or else you may also eligible for the entrance exam of Ed-CET for doing B.ED all the best |

Re: Can BSc Computer Science student apply for GATE? The minimum qualification required to appear for this exam is either B.Tech or Masters in Science in any area. You need to complete your M.Sc degree. But in the mean time you can start preparing for the exam. |
