TNPSC VAO Exam Details:

~To sit for the VAO exam you need to have a secondary school leaving certificate as that is the minimum qualification required. If you have higher qualifications it will be considered only when you have this certificate to show.

~You need to attain the minimum age of 21 years to give this exam. This is the lower age limit for all category. The upper age limit for general category candidates is 30 years. The upper age limit for reserved category candidates is 40 years.

~If you get selected you will be posted in the villages of Tamilnadu where the local language of people is Tamil. Therefore you need to be well versed in this language to avoid any sort of communication gap.

~Those who do not know this language can still this exam but in that case they need to sit for a Tamil language exam which is also conducted by the TNPSC. All these needs to be done within two years from the date of selection.

~Only physically fit candidates can sit for this exam. Therefore they need to produce medical certificates to the authorities concerned during examination time.

~Selection procedure is mostly based on the written examination. So the exam is of vital importance here. Apart from this the factors that are taken into consideration are the district chosen by you and the number of reservations in the district in question.

~The written exam mainly comprises of one single paper where there will be two sections for you to answer. The first section general knowledge is bilingual. So you will get to answer in either Tamil or English. The second paper is bilingual and you need to state your preferences in the application form itself.

~You need to answer all total 200 questions in 3 hours and 150 marks have been allotted for each section. Out of the total marks allotted you need to secure minimum 90 marks to qualify. On failing to do that you will be disqualified.

~Notifications for this year's exam was published in June and the exam is due in September. Results will be out by November and by December the interview or the counselling session starts.
