Re: Which is the exam for MBA admission? I am studying in engineering college 3rd year

There are many exams conducted by different Institutions for admission to MBA course but generally all prefer to sit in the exam like CAT,MAT, XAT etc.

Master of Business Administration(MBA) is a two years Post Graduation course and can be pursed after Graduation in any stream. As you are now pursing 3rd year of B.Tech. Engineering, you can apply for MBA entrance exam either in the final year of B.Tech. studies or after completion of the same.

Eligibility of entrance exam for:-

CAT - Common Admission Test conducted by IIM(Indian Institute of Management), the candidate must be an Indian national having either appear for the final Graduation Degree exam or pass with 50% marks from a recognised University.

MAT - Management Aptitude Test conducted by AIMA(All India Management Association), The candidate applying for it must be an Indian Citizen having completed Graduation Degree from a recognised University.

There is no restriction to upper age limit for application to CAT/MAT. There is also no restriction to number of attempts to these exams.

Firstly I would not recommend that you pursue MBA after completing Engineering course. It is better to go for M.Tech which makes more sense. There was no need to do Engineering for MBA. You could have got admission for Master in Business Administration after completing any graduation course like B.Com, B.Sc, B.A. etc.

Now if you still insist, there are two major entrance exams for the Master of Business Administration:

Common Admission Test (CAT)

Management Aptitude Test (MAT)

Common Admission Test or CAT is quite common between students who wish to pursue Master of Business Administration course from the Indian Institute of Management. To get admission in any IIMs, it is important to appear in the Common Admission Test. As you may know that IIMs are the best B-Schools in the country therefore the first priority for all the MBA aspirants.

Eligibility

>> A graduation degree in any stream from a recognized university.

>> At least 50 percent marks in graduation course.

>> In case of SC/ST, 45 percent marks are required in graduation course.

Management Aptitude Test which also means MAT is conducted four times a year. Mostly candidates who either fail to crack the Common Admission Test or do not have the percentage criteria to appear in CAT exam prefers to appear in the Management Aptitude Test.

Eligibility

>> A graduation degree from a recognised university.

>> There is no percentage criteria for MAT exam.

Other national level entrance exams for MBA include

IRMA

IIFT

SNAP

IBSAT

NMAT

XAT
