Re: Required Eligibility criteria for SET and NET Exam? Procedure to appear for this Exam? When will be this Exam? What syllabus to prepare for this Exam?

You are eligible for both National Eligibility Test and the State Eligibility Test. The criteria for both exams remains the same. You need to have post graduation degree for these exams.

While the National Eligibility Test is a nationwide entrance exam same is not the case for State Eligibility Test. Each state separately conducts this entrance exam. The exam dates as well syllabus could vary from state to state.

Both these exams are conducted for Lectureship as well Junior Research Fellowship. The National Eligibility Test is conducted in June and December while State Eligibility Test varies from state to state.

NET/SET Eligibility

1. You must be Indian to appear for these exams.

2. Must have completed post graduation course.

3. Final year students are also welcomed to apply.

4. But the final year students should submit the degree in 2 year.

5. Your marks in post graduation should at least be 55 percent.

6. SC/ST will have to score 50 percent marks.

7. The subject for NET will be English in your case.

8. Your age should be below 28 years to apply for JRF.

9. The JRF age is 31 years for OBC.

10. Same is 33 years for SC/ST.

11. For lectureship you should be at least 19 years old.

12. There is no upper age limit for lectureship.

Those candidates who have secured even 54.99% marks or below ( even 49.99% Marks or below for SC / ST / PH / VH candidates ) in Master’s Degree examination are NOT eligible for this Maharashtra SET Exam Test 2012.

Minimum eligibility criteria is post graduation with min 55% marks from UGC recognised college/ university.
SC/ST require min 50% marks and M.C.M. students are not allowed to appear in the SET Exams.
You must have Master’s Degree from an institution recognized by U.G.C.
