The state level exam is called SET. There is no difference is the two exams apart from the fact that one is central level exam and other is conducted on state level. National Eligibility Test is conducted two times a year. First time in the month of June and secondly in December. To appear for the exam, candidate must meet these requirements.

Eligibility

1. Candidate must be Indian citizen.

2. He/She should posses post graduation degree in any stream from a college which is recognized by the University Grants Commission.

3. Candidates who have completed post graduation from open university may also apply.

4. Final year students of master course are also eligible to apply.

5. But final year students are required to submit their master degree within 2 years of passing the test.

National Eligibility Test is the exam conducted for the postition of Lecturer in central government colleges. The exam is conducted by the University Grants Commission and is considered one of the most difficult exams in India.

NET or the National Eligibility Test is a central level exam what it means is that if you managed to pass the exam, you would get lecturer job in central government colleges. This rule would not apply to state government colleges since states have their own exam to recruit lecturers.
