Postal Assistant Written Test Syllabus : PART-A (General Knowledge): There would be 25 questions based on the current affairs, sports, economics, history, geography, constitution, Science, etc. The motive of this section in the postal assistant written exam is to test your level of general awareness and your familiarity with the upcoming issues of the country and world. PART-B (Mathematics): The purpose of this section is to judge your comfort level with numbers and numerical skills. Your speed to find out solutions can be observed. The major areas covered under this section are simplification, number system, decimals, compound interest, profit and loss, etc. PART-C (English): This section of the postal assistant written exam is conducted to test your language skills and comfort level in English communication related areas. This section covers areas like antonyms/synonyms, adverbs, direct/indirect sentences, tenses and other important parts of English grammar. PART-D (Reasoning and Logical Ability): This section of the test comprises of reasoning based questions and the basic motive of this section is to judge your thinking and reasoning abilities to reach to a conclusion for any given question or situation. Computer test typing paper: The candidates are required to type a 450 word English or a 375 word Hindi passage in the duration of 15 minutes, which would include numerical figures and letters. |

## The postal assistant exam is conducted by the Department of Postal Govt. of India whenever there is a vacancy for this post. You can also give this exam if you satisfy the following eligibility criteria: ## If you wish to give this exam then you need to be a higher secondary passed out student or its equivalent from a recognized school or institution. ## In order to be considered for the exam you need to score minimum 60% of marks at 10+2 level or above. This rule is binding only on general category candidates. ## For reserved category candidates there is percentage relaxation. For OBC Candidates:- 50% in aggregate For SC/ST Candidates:- 45% in aggregate ## The minimum age limit for giving this exam is 18 years. The upper age limit is 27 years for general category candidates. ## To avoid any communication problem with the residents of the concerned of the postal circle you need to be well versed in the local language of that State. This will help you to carry out out job smoothly. ## Even if you know hindi or have studied hindi at matriculation level or above then that will help too. That can be used as a common language to communicate freely. It is known to all as that is the official language of our country. ## Questions are mostly objective type and conceptual so you need to give the answers very carefully. Be very alert when answering them. You need to answer 200 questions in all within a time limit of two and a half hours. ## For the exam you need to stress on the following sections: General Knowlege, Mathematics, English and Reasoning. There will be five papers to solve and 25 marks each have been alloted for each paper and the same number of questions will be there in each paper. ## You will have to sit for a computer test or typing test as well in addition to the above mentioned written exam. The duration of the exam will be of 30 minutes maximum. ## For general category candidates the cost of the application form is Rs. 200 and it will be available in the head post offices and other post offices in the circle.
