Hey , I'm 21 year old BMM graduate had applied for upsc civil service preliminary exams 2014 for ips , my question is paper 1 will be general studies what about paper 2 which subject will be asked in examination. And after clearing whole upsc exam is it compulsory to go for training?? |

IAS is commonly known as Indian Administrative Services. To become an IAs officer you need to clear UPSC Civil Services Examination. You can sit for the exam provided you follow the eligibility norms: ** You must have completed your graduation in any stream. ** Final year candidates may also apply. ** Your age should be between 21 to 30 years. There is age relaxation given for reserved categories. SC/ST- 5 yrs OBC- 3 yrs PH- 10 yrs Number of attempts: 4 in case of general 7 in case of OBC & unlimited in case of SC/ST till they attain the age of 35 years. There are 3 stages of examination: Preliminary Mains Interview According to latest pattern Preliminary exam is known as CSAT. You have 2 papers in this: General awareness Aptitude test If you fulfill these requirements you can fil the aplication form. Civil services exam is held every year. Once you crack the elite Civil services exam and chosen for Indian Administrative Services i.e. IAS officer, you need to undergo training in Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration LBSNAA in Mussoorrie, Uttarakhand. Trainings on various topics like rural administration, revenue system, policy implementations etc is given. Various popular personalities come to address the candidates. Once the training is over, you are sent to your given cadre (Which is the state in which you will be working as an officer). So if someone is selected for Maharashtra cadre, he will be first trainee officer for few months in Maharashtra and then assigned a duty of responsible officer there. |

If you are so interested for IAS,after being Engineers, Doctors, or Ph.d you can sit IAS exam conducted by UPSC. Application forms will come out in the month of January. then first of all you'll get a call letter from delhi for undergoing training..with a stipend of 75% of your salary.. and this training period will be of 9 to 14 months. you'll get a call letter after this to your state cadre as a junior officer.. this is the time you'll be called as joint collector.. its a equal range of district collector.. but its almost like assistant to district collector.. because without getting proper grip on your work they will never leave a district on you.. so its must for any candidate to work as jc for atleast 2 to 3 years.. then you'll get a promotion like in the other district as district collector..this is the full fledged IAS officer stage here on you'll get continous promotions and hike in your pay.. it will be a colorful life for you... regards ~aditya~ |

The procedure for becoming an IAS and IPS officer is same. IAS and IPS are very good career options for anyone who wants to be a part of Indian government and help the country by getting in to the system. IAS/IPS is a very prestigious rank. It is not really easy to become an IAS/IPS. Here are a few steps one needs to take for becoming an IAS/IPS. IAS IPS OfficerFirst, in order to become an IAS/IPS officer, an individual is required to have a degree from an Indian University or a degree of same qualification. Students who are in the final year of their degree course can also appear in the preliminary examination. Second, you need to prepare yourself for appearing in the exams of Indian Civil Services. The exam for IAS/IPS is conducted in two steps. First step is the “preliminary exam”; which takes place in May/June and the second step is the main exam which takes place in October/November every year. It is not easy to beat IAS/IPS exams. A large number of people appear for Indian Civil Services exams every year. However, only a few get selected. It takes dedication and patience for clearing this exam and becoming an IAS/IPS officer. Third, you need to fulfill all the requirements for being an IAS/IPS officer. There are various requirements like minimum age and maximum age; for becoming an IAS/IPS officer. 21 is the minimum and 30 is the maximum age for appearing in the exam of IAS/IPS. There is relaxation for the upper age limit for applicants belonging to SC/ST and OBC categories. Fourth, after an individual clears both preliminary and the main exam for IAS/IPS then he is called for an interview.
