Re: What is the exam date of SET?

SET or SLET stands for State Eligibility Test for Lectureship. This is a state level test for recruiting lecturer in state government colleges. It is mandatory for each state to conduct this exam. However those who are unable to do so for some reasons have to consider the results of NET entrance exam.

There is no difference between NET and SET exam. The eligibility criteria for both exams are the same. The only difference is that while National Eligibility Test is conducted by UGC for lectureship in central government colleges. State Eligibility Test is conducted by state education board for lectureship in state government colleges.

Although NET exam is conducted twice a year, SLET exam is generally conducted only once in a year. You will need a post graduation degree in order to be eligible to appear for either of the two exams.

Eligibility

1. Candidate must be Indian citizen.

2. Post graduation degree in any stream from UGC recognized university.

3. At least 55 percent marks.

4. SC/ST candidates need 50 percent marks.

5. Final year PG students may also apply.

6. But should submit their degree within 2 years of passing the SET exam.

7. The age limit for JRF is 28 years.

8. The age limit is relaxed by 3 years for OBC and 5 years for SC/ST.

9. There is no upper age limit for Lectureship.

10. Ther is no limit on number of attempts.

Dates

You have not mentioned about the state in which you are interested to appear for SLET exam. Each state conducts their own SLET exam and the dates are different.
