Hi friend...
Genetic Engineering is concerned with deliberate manipulation of the genetic material (DNA) of a living organism by artificial methods. It is also concerned with developing varieties of plants, making plants disease resistant.Genetic Engineering Techniques are used in Research,Biotechnology and Medicine.
Since, you want to take admission in Undergraduate course of Genetc Engineering,I am telling you its eligibility.
1.You should have passed your 12th from a recognized board.
2.You should be from Science stream.
3.Entrance to IIT is based on JEE score.
4.Some other famous institutes also recognize JEE score forselection.
5.There are many other state and national level entrance tests for admission in this course.
So,there is no need of Biology in 12th if you want to pursue genetic engineering.
Best of luck.
Thanks.
With Regards-
Vikas.

Biology, Chemistry and Mathematics are the subjects which you must have studied in the Higher Secondary level to be considered eligible to pursue Genetic Engineering at bachelors level.

Candidates who have not studied Biology in the higher secondary level are not considered by any university for pursuing Genetic Engineering either as a B.Tech Program or B.Sc Program.

Some of the reputed institutes offering Genetic Engineering program are as follows:
  • Banaras Hindu University
  • Osmania University
  • Indian Institute of Technology
  • Aryabhatta Knowledge University
  • S.R.M Institute of Science and Technology
For further information, refer to the official website of the aforementioned university.
