In order to join this branch, you need to join the police department which you may do by applying for a post, depending upon your academic qualification. In some states, the entrance examination for recruitment of officers is conducted by the state police selection board of the particular state whereas, in other states, the entrance examination is conducted by the Public Service Commission of the state. Since you are a graduate, you will be considered eligible for the post of Sub-Inspector provided you are within the age limit which varies from state to state. You may also join the department by qualifying Civil Service Exam conducted by Union Public Service Commission. Candidates who qualifies the examination are appointed as Assistant Commissioner of Police in the Indian Police Service. Being a graduate, you may write this exam too, but you must be within the age limit of 21-30 years. For further information, you may refer to the official website of : Union Public Service Commission. Police Department of the state you belong to.
