Re: Can I appear for IAS examination after completing degree in part time or correspondence?

Most certainly you can appear for the Indian Administrative Service. The only condition is that your university should be recognized by the government. In that case you will face no hurdle in applying for the Indian Administrative Service with correspondence degree.

The Indian Administrative Service is conducted under the Civil Service Examination by the Union Public Service Commission. You can apply for it after completing graduation. The selection process has two stages.

First is the preliminary exam where you have to appear for two papers. The score of these papers are not included in the final score. To appear for main examination it is important to clear the preliminary exam.

Second part is Main exam in which 9 written papers are conducted. Your score in this exam will determine the fate. The Main exam is followed by an personal interview.

Eligibility

1. You should be of Indian origin.

2. A bachelor degree in any discipline.

3. There is no percentage criteria.

4. The age limit is 21 to 30 years.

5. There is 3 years relaxation in upper age limit.

6. SC/ST candidates are given 5 years relaxation.

Re: Can I appear for IAS examination after completing degree in part time or correspondence?

If you would have mentioned name of the university from where you are pursuing
graduation, then it would have been easier to comment on your eligibility for
Civil Service Examination.

Civil Service Examination eligibility criteria states that
"The candidate must hold a degree of any of Universities incorporated by an Act of the
Central or State Legislature in India or other educational institutions established by an
Act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as a University Under Section-3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956," to become eligible for the exam.

So, it doesn't matter really whether you have done gradudation in regular or distance more.
The thing that matter is, 'Affiliation of the University'.
If the university is affiliated to UGC or AICTE or DEC etc. then your qualification
is valid for Civil Services Examination.

You should check your university affiliation to confirm your eligibility.

Re: Can I appear for IAS examination after completing degree in part time or correspondence?

IAS - Indian Administrative Service, to become an IAS officer, one has to crack Civil Service Exam conducted by UPSC every year.

As per UPSC guide line, there is no specification that one should be a Graduate from a regular mode course rather than Graduate through part time or correspondence mode. So you will be eligible for IAS Exam after completing Degree in part time or correspondence.

Apart from this the eligible candidate must be an Indian Citizen having either appear for the final Graduation Degree exam or pass in any stream from a recognised University within the age of 21 to 30 years with upper age relaxation for reserved candidate.
