Re: Is NET exam necessary for lectureship in government pharmacy college?

Hello sir/ma'am. I recently pursued my master's degree in Pharm D (Doctor of Pharmacy). To the best of my knowledge, I came to know that the Ugc-Net exam is mandatory to crack JRF/Assistant professor position.

My query is does this exam includes the Pharmacy subject or related subjects. I searched by simple browsing but I couldn't find any related subjects. Could you please let me know. So that I choose my core subject.

Big thanks for your help.

Re: Is NET exam necessary for lectureship in government pharmacy college?

Dear Friend,

Yes NET Examination is necessary if you want to become a lecturer of a Government College.

Only those candidates are recruited as lecturers in Government Colleges who have passed the National eligibility Test (NET).

The University Grants Commission has set some Eligibility Criteria for NET which all the candidates have to fulfill in order to appear in the exam.

These Eligibility Criteria are :

* you must hold a Masters Degree from any recognized university..

* you must have secured a minimum of 55% marks in post graduation.

* you do not have any pending backlogs.

* For JRF , your age must lie in the bracket of 21-28 years.

* There is no age bracket for the post of Lectureship.

* Relaxation in age is provided to Reserved Candidates of OBC , SC , ST categories.

This is the information i have to the best of my knowledge regarding your query. Hope the information will help you to the extent you want.

Re: Is NET exam necessary for lectureship in government pharmacy college?

Yes NET(National eligibility test) is cumpolsary in order to being a lecturer in any field.
Because it is your NET score card basis only, that you get an offering in the college as a lecturer.
This exam is conducted by UGC and the minimum eligibility is that you should be having a minimum of 55% marks in your masters degree in order to appear for NET. There is no age limit for giving this exam.

Re: Is NET exam necessary for lectureship in government pharmacy college?

For becoming a lectuter in govt. college you need to be NET qualified
or Hold a P.H.D Degree in your subject(Pharmacy).

NET stands for National Eligibility Test.NET is conducted Twice a year
i.e.first in JUNE and second time in DEC month.
For Science and Technology and Medical field UGC-CSIR conducts the NET Exams.
Being a pharmacy student you have to apply to UGC-CSIR Net Exams
if your subject is included in the list of subjects issued by them.

NET Exams are conducted For :
Lecturership
Junior Research Fellowship
Senoir Research Fellowship

For applying to NET Exams qualifications required are :
Masters Degree with minimum 55 % marks.

Age Limit :
Lecturership-no age limit.

Junior Research Fellowship-not more than 28yrs.
After qualifying for JRF candidates have to apply for P.h.d Degree within 2yrs and they are granted stipend for it by UGC-CSIR.

According to AICTE norms to become an Assistant Prof. in Pharmacy
you need following qualifications :

Bachelors and Masters Degree in Pharmacy with First Class or equivalent either in Bachelors or Masters Degree.

So NET Exams is not mandatory for pharmacy subject to apply to Govt. colleges.

Re: Is NET exam necessary for lectureship in government pharmacy college?

National Eligibility Test is mandatory for all government colleges. It does not matter whether you are applying for lectureship in Engineering colleges or Pharma colleges. The National Eligibility Test has become mandatory.

The NET entrance exam is conducted by University Grants Commission on two ocassions in a year. The next NET entrance exam would be conducted in June 2013 followed by December 2013. You need to have completed post graduation degree course to apply for it.

Eligibility

1. Only candidates of Indian origin can apply for NET.

2. You should have post graduation degree in any stream.

3. Must have completed PG course from a UGC recognized university.

4. Minimum of 55 percent marks in post graduation.

5. At least 50 percent marks if candidate belongs to SC/ST.

6. Final year students of PG course can also apply.

7. But to avoid disqualification they will need to submit PG degree within 2 years of clearing NET.

8. Your NET subject should be relevant to PG course.

9. There is no limit on number of attempts.

Age Limit

1. The age limit is 28 years for JRF.

2. Upto 3 years relaxation for OBC.

3. SC/ST candidate gets 5 years relaxation.

4. There is no upper age limit for college lectureship.
