Simplest Definition :

-> The potential at which oxidation occurs at the anode in an electrochemical cell.

-> In other words, The measure of a material to oxidize or lose electrons is known as its 'Oxidation Potential'. The metal atoms release electrons and become positive ions. Each oxidation reaction has a typical value of potential at which the reaction occur. This value change in different electrolytes.

Re: Difference between ideal gas and real gas?

Random movement in molecules collision takes place in elastic nature of molecules only it is ideal gas, but in real gas collision takes place in all types of molecules.

Re: Difference between ideal gas and real gas?

Ideal gas is a hypothetical gas that follows gas laws(Charles and Boyles law ) perfectly at constant temperature, there molecules have no interaction and there collision is perfectly elastic
This form of gas is not found in nature.
Real gas are the gas that are actually found in nature

Re: Difference between ideal gas and real gas?

Ideal Gas
An ideal gas is a theoretical gas composed of a set of randomly-moving, non-interacting point particles. The ideal gas concept is useful because it obeys the ideal gas law, a simplified equation of state, and is amenable to analysis under statistical mechanics.

Please refer the following link for full details-Click here

Real Gas
Real gases opposes to a perfect or ideal gas law and it exhibit the properties that cannot be explained entirely using the ideal gas law.
Thanks

differences are listed as follows
1]pressure is high in ideal gas compared to real gas.
2]ideal gas has no definite volume while real gas has definite volume.
3]collision of particle in ideal gas is elastic while in real gas is non elastic.
4]ideal gas has no mass while real gas has mass

Re: Difference between ideal gas and real gas?

*Ideal gas made up partcles with single point with no volumes
this means atoms or molecules no room.

*Ideal gas made up particle that do not attract or repel each other.

Real gas made up atoms or molecules that take up space.

*it may attract or repel one another

Real gas behave like Ideal gas with ordinary tempraturs and pressure

Re: Difference between ideal gas and real gas?

hi, Ideal gas:- An ideal gas is a gas whose pressure (P) ,volume(v) & Temperature(T) are related by the ideal gas laws . PV=NRT. Real gas:- This is a gas that doesn't behave as an ideal gas due to interaction between gas molecules.Diff is ,In ideal gas the particles of gas do n't interact each other ,but only with the walls of the container in which gas is capatured. In real gas interact with each other and transfer energy to each other. The collisions with the walls n't always reject

An ideal gas follows the equation PV=nRT. (in actuality no gasses follow this exactly, but a great many very come close, especially depending on your system's temperature and pressure). A real gas significantly deviates from PV=nRT (the Ideal Gas Law).

To account for this, we throw in a fudge factor "Z" to account for non-ideality. So the equation is now PV=ZnRT. Z is a function of the reduced temperature and reduced pressure of the gas (or gas mixture) at your pressure and temperatue. There are numerous other "equations of state" that you can use to account for non-ideality, but PV=ZnRT is the easiest to do by hand.

main difference between both:-

IDEAL GAS:-

*Ideal gas made up partcles with single point with no volumes

*Ideal gas made up particle that do not attract or repel each other.

REAL GAS:-

*Real gas made up atoms or molecules that take up space.
