The Central Government of India classifies some of its citizens based on their social and economic condition as Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe and Other Backward Class (OBC). The OBC list presented by the commission is dynamic (castes and communities can be added or removed) and will change from time to time depending on Social, Educational and Economic factors. For example, the OBCs are entitled to 27% reservations in public sector employment and higher education. In the constitution, OBCs are described as "socially and educationally backward classes", and government is enjoined to ensure their social and educational development. Until 1985, the affairs of Backward Classes were looked after by the Backward Classes Cell (BCC) in the Ministry of Home Affairs. With the creation of a separate Ministry of Welfare in 1985 (renamed as Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment on 25 May 1998) the matters relating to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Other Backward Classes (OBCs) and Minorities were transferred to the new Ministry. |

In the Govt jobs many persons are categorized in the reserved categories.Those who are in the reserved categories get extra -privileges in the age,percentage,etc. OBC refers to Other Backward Class, and PH is referred to Physically Handicapped.So OBC-PH is a combination of both means the candidate is not only belongs to the backward class but also he is a physical handicap too. If a seat is reserved for such candidate then neither the OBC alone nor the PH alone will be eligible to get the same but Only the person who is a combination of both can entitled for it. |

They have reserve quotas for every thing like in study , jobs , etc...... The govt. entrance exam chances , how many times they can apply are as follows...  Good luck....... |

So under this category only those are lied who are OBC by caste and physically handicapped by body physics. Definition of OBC: The peoples economically & socially backward other than SC,ST and FC are and Other Backward Class (OBC). The peoples who belong Backward Class (BC), Most Backward Class (MBC) and Denotified Community (DCN) category in the respective Indian states government’s criteria are grouped & called as Other Backward Class (OBC). |

Similarly, we have the following abbreviations: Gen stands for General UR stands for Unreserved and is same as General SC stands for Scheduled Caste ST stands for Scheduled Tribe Ex stands for Ex-Servicemen OBC, SC and ST are community based. If one doesnt fit into any of these, then he is called as Gen or UR. (Of course, some people have another category called MBC, which stands for Most Backward Community). There are reservations for these communities, whether it is for jobs or for school/college admissions. People belonging to reserved communities (OBC, SC and ST) also enjoy relaxed age limits, physical standards, educational qualifications and selection criteria. PH is person based. and Ex is career based. They also have what is called horizontal reservation. |

Fine I have explain this gradually : S.C. - Scheduled Castes S.T. - Scheduled Tribes O.B.C. - Other Backward Castes O.C. - Other Castes B.C. - Backward Castes P.H. - Physically Handicapted The other backward castes (O.B.C.s) form a very large and heterogeneous category (~30% of the population) and are remarkably close to SCs in terms of social and economic "backwardness". ~regards~ priyo |

This means if you are applying a job or an entrance examination in that a form has an option like OBC-PH. Finally the OBC-PH means in other backward classes physically handicaped candidates. Don't post like there type of small questions. |
