NO, you are not eligible to apply for the UGC-NET Exams.

Minimum educational qualifications required to aply for the UGC-NET Exams is:
Post Graduation pass from a recognised University
Minimum 55% marks in Post Graduation for the General Candidates
Minimum 55% marks in Post Graduation for the OBC Candidates
Minimum 50% marks for the SC/ST candidates

Since you have less than 55% marks , so you are not eligible to apply

You have to do Post Graduation again and get minimum 55% marks in order to apply for the UGC-NET exams.

there is no age Cap to apply for the Lectureship in the UGC-NET Exams

Re: Can I do NET exam after scoring 54.5% marks in M.A History

Hi
I’m sorry to say that you’re not eligible for appearing in the national eligibilty test NET. Because the eligibility for giving the NET exam is that you should be having a minimum of 55% marks in your post graduation degree. There is no relaxation provided in terms of the minimum marks required in the eligibility for the general and obc category. The relaxation of 5% is given only to the candidates who belongs to the sc/st category.

NET Eligibility Criteria

National Eligibility Test(NET) is conducted every year in the months of June and December for lectureship as well as JRF by the UGC..

A candidate can appear for the NET Exam only if :-

>> The candidate has secured an aggregate of 55% in post graduation (without rounding off)

>> 50% marks in post graduation for SC/ST candidates..

>> Candidate's age must be less than 28 years if applying for the JRF..

I am really very sorry but OBC candidates also have to secure 55% in their masters degree and since, they specifically mention it that the percentage has to be without rounding off hence you are not eligible for the NET Exam..

For clarifications..you can also visit http://ugcnetonline.in

all the best..

With Warm Regards

Re: Can I do NET exam after scoring 54.5% marks in M.A History

Dear Friend,

d) your age should lie in between 21-28 years (only for JRF) as there is no age limit for the post of Lecture Ship.

e) There is no bar on the number of attempts for this exam.

Re: Can I do NET exam after scoring 54.5% marks in M.A History

I am afraid but you are not eligible for the UGC NET entrance exam. The National Eligibility Test is for college lectureship and PhD. To be eligible the candidate should have minimum of 55 percent marks in the post graduation course.

Now there is some relaxation for SC and ST candidates but unfortunately there is none for the OBC candidates. Which means the criteria for OBC is same as the General category candidates. Therefore you should have at least 55 percent marks to apply for the National Eligibility Test.

The rules for the NET entrance exam are quite strict. You won't get admission even with 54.99 percent marks. Therefore I am afraid you are not eligible for the National Eligibility Test.

Eligibility

1. You should be of Indian origin.

2. Master degree course is any stream.

3. Must have completed PG from a UGC recognized college.

4. Minimum percentage should be 55%.

5. SC and ST should have 50% marks.

6. Final year candidates are also eligible to apply.

7. Final year students have to submit the PG degree in 2 years.

8. NET subject should be relevant to your PG course.

9. The age limit is 28 years for JRF.

10. Age limit for OBC is 31 years.

11. SC and ST can apply for JRF till 33 years.

12. There is no age limit for lectureship.

13. There is no limit on attempts.
