There are various Institutions which offers technical programs through regular mode and are approved by the All India Council for Technical Education [AICTE]. However, the All India Council for Technical Education [AICTE] do not approve any Technical Course including B.E. / B.Tech through Distance or Correspondence mode apart from Master of Business Administration [MBA] and Master of Computer Application [MCA]. The Karnataka State Open University is a University Grant Commission [UGC] and Distance Education Council [DEC] recognized Institution which offers B.Tech program in various discipline through distance mode. In order to be eligible for the program candidate must have passed the +2 level of examination from a recognized Board with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. The duration of the program is four years and comprises of eight semesters. Candidate with a three year diploma after Xth are eligible for direct enrollment in to the third semester through lateral entry.
