Dear friend IAS stands for Indian Administrative Service.

For apply IAS exam the minimum Education qualification is Graduation degree in any stream from a recognized University.

IAS exam is conducted by UPSC under Civil Services exam in every year.

Number of Attempts:-

General category candidates - 4 time

OBC category Candidates - 7 time

SC/ST category candidates - No limit.

Age limit:-

Age should be between 21 years to 30 years for General category candidates.

Age relaxation for OBC category candidates 3 years

And SC/ST category candidates 5 years.

Hello dear,


Its nice to see that you are aspiring to become an IAS officer.

IAS is commonly known as Indian Administrative Services.
To become an IAs officer you need to clear UPSC Civil Services Examination.

You can sit for the exam provided you follow the eligibility norms:

** You must have completed your graduation in any stream.

** Final year candidates may also apply.

** Your age should be between 21 to 30 years.

There is age relaxation given for reserved categories.
SC/ST- 5 yrs
OBC- 3 yrs
PH- 10 yrs

Number of attempts:

4 in case of general
7 in case of OBC &
unlimited in case of SC/ST till they attain the age of 35 years.

There are 3 stages of examination:
Preliminary
Mains
Interview

According to latest pattern Preliminary exam is known as CSAT.

You have 2 papers in this:
General awareness
Aptitude test

If you fulfill these requirements you can fil the aplication form. Civil services exam is held every year.

sir, i am completed my graduation with engineering degree. But i want to choose other subject like 'lokprashasan or economics' for the prepration of I.A.S. Exam.please tell me it is possible.

IAS stands for Indian Administrative Service. It is conducted by UPSC every year.
AGE LIMIT
21 years must be completed on 1st August of the year, which a candidate is appearing. Maximum 30 for general category, 33 for OBCs and 35 for SCs/STs. Ex-servicemen will get 5 more years exemption from the prescribed age limit.

(The date of birth accepted by the Commission is that entered in the Matriculation or Secondary School Leaving Certificate or in a certificate recognised by an Indian University as equivalent to Matriculation or in an extract from a Register of Matriculates maintained by a University, which extract must be certified by the proper authority of the University or in the Higher Secondary or an equivalent examination certificate).
Number of Attempts:


Four attempts for open, seven for OBCs and no limit for SCs/STs. If a person appears in the Preliminary Examination or even one paper is counted as an attempt.

You should not mention your age and category, if you mentioned it i can inform you the all details, but don't worry iam providing you the details about IAS exam

In order to be eligible for this exam one should have complete their graduation from any recognised university

The number of attempts for the general category is 4 attempts.

And the OBC candidates the number of attempts are 7 times.

And the sc/st categories there no limit for the attempts.

To become a IAS the candidate age limit should be 21 to 30 years.

The age relaxation for obc candidates is 3 years.

And the sc/st category the age relaxation should be 5 years.

The candidate complete the graduation from a recognized university.

The candidate should be citizen of india.

In order to be placed in IAS, one should have to crack civil services examination being conducted by UPSC (Union Public Service Commission) every year.

Here are the number of attempts for this exam.

-A candidate of General category can appear for this Exam for a maximum of 4 times.
-A candidate of OBC category can appear for this exam for a maximum of 7 times.
-There is no limit on the number of attempts for this exam for the candidates of SC/ST category.

Yes there is a particular age limit required for the candidates to appear for this Exam.

Here it is,
-A candidate of General category should be in the age group of 21-30 years.
-Relaxation is there in upper age limit upto 3 years for the candidates of OBC category.
-For the candidates of SC/ST category, relaxation is there in upper age limit upto 5 years.
-Relaxation is there in upper age limit upto 10 years for the candidates with physical disabilities.
