Re: GATE or GRE: Better choice after B.Tech?

HI Friends...........

Both GATE & GRE are good courses, but the difference is:

1.If you would like to do M.Tech in India only then you can go for GATE

2.If you would like to do M.Tech in Abroad then you can go for GRE

Selection depends upon you only..........

ALL THE BEST...........

Re: GATE or GRE: Better choice after B.Tech?

I have this biggest confusion which i never faced in my life before, I know that gate is for m tech in India and gre is for ms abroad, but i wanna appear for both the exams and i wanna go for the one in which i excel. The real question is how to prepare for both?? where gate is more of technical and gre is more of English. Currently i just finished my 5th sem and badly in need of help.
thanking you,

Re: GATE or GRE: Better choice after B.Tech?

GATE and GRE both are good. but the course are different.
GRE is best when you want to study in abroad. but if you want to study master degree in India then try foe GATE.
also GATE is generally exam for technical knowledge but GRE is for technical as well as english language. you should know good english to qualify GRE.
appear in both exam and where you will get chance go for that.
GRE is very much expensive than GATE exam.

Re: GATE or GRE: Better choice after B.Tech?

Hello Dear Friend

Both the exams are the gateway to master degree programs.
The main difference is through GATE one gets chance of admission in M.Tech. programs
top Indian universities like IITs and IISc but through GRE one gets chance of admission in MS programs in foreign universities.

On international platform MS is of greater importance than M.Tech.

If you score well in GRE and get admission in a good college in foreign university
with satisfactorily good scholarship then GRE is surely a better choice.
But, if you don't get such a good opportunity through GRE then GATE is the best
choice.

So, it is not a matter of confusion that whether one should go for GRE or GATE.
You should appear both the tests and see which is offering you a better career.
i.e. If you get good score in GRE (like 1400 out of 1600) and your academics is also
good enough to get you a good college (with scholarship)in foreign countries
then go for MS program in foreign universities.
But if you don't get get a good college through GRE you should not wait for time
to pass and take admission in IISc or IITs for M.Tech. programs.

Thank You

Re: GATE or GRE: Better choice after B.Tech?

I would suggest you to give both the exams. Since your main aim is to opt for higher studies therefore it should not matter much from where you are pursuing this course. On the contrary giving two exams at a time would mean giving yourself more chances and opportunities. Failing to crack one means you can still fall back on the next one. But having said that both are extremely tough exams and requires tremendous hard work and determination. So chalk out a plan and start working accordingly.

All the best

Re: GATE or GRE: Better choice after B.Tech?

By GATE you will be secure for admission in post graduation in technology(M.tech) in India. If you want to study in India you should go with GATE. but if you want to study out of India you should go with GRE. GRE will help you for admission in master degree out of india.(abroad).

if you have good vocabulary and interested in M.B.A also wants to go to foreign then G.R.E will be the best option for you...bt if your english skills are not good and you have good technical knowledge.GATE will be the better option but it requires hard work and dedication.choose the option and go ahead.

Re: GATE or GRE: Better choice after B.Tech?

dear friend,
After B.tech , you are confused about your future higher studies..

Let me tell you, if you are interested in doing higher studies from abroad, then you have to qualify in GRE exam..

If you want to go for M.tech course in India then you have to qualify in GATE exam..

Both the courses are good...

But pursuing higher studies from abroad is much more prospective..

Now, you decide what you want..

All the best.

Re: GATE or GRE: Better choice after B.Tech?

Ans:

** Yes, you are eligible to write the GATE exam even though you have backlogs no matter how many backlogs you have

** Only thing required is at the time of admissions you have to clear all the subjects and you should have your B.Tech memo with you

** I don't understand that you have cleared your 8th semester backlog or not because in this year August is gone already

** What ever it may be I'll tell one thing, if you can clear backlog in August 2012 then you may not eligible to appear counseling process in IITs, NITs,IISC and many colleges even though you qualified in GATE exam

** Because IITs, NITs,IISC and many central Universities counseling will be held on June, July so you will lose that chance

** But in some colleges and state Govt. Universities will conduct Counseling for M.Tech in Oct or Nov month . for Example in A.P M.Tech counseling will be held on late November or October, So there you have chance to appear for Counseling

** More details about GATE 2012;

>> GATE 2012 application process is completely ONLINE

>> GATE 2012 ONLINE application process is already started on 12th Sept 2011

>> Last date to apply ONLINE is 17th Oct 2011

>> GATE have both ONLINE and OFFLINE Exams

>> ONLINE examination date is 29th Jan 2012

>> OFFLINE examination date is 12th FEB 2012

>> Results will be announced on 15th MARCH 2012

>> Examination fee is 1000/-

All the Best

Re: GATE or GRE: Better choice after B.Tech?

Through GRE exam you can join the universities of abroad .Studying in abroad can give you confidence in life .But it depends on where you you study .Its preparation mostly depend on English and admission requires so many requirements .If your university is not well recognized and well rank then you can't get the scholarship. Those can discourage a student from taking this option .

Through GATE you can join IITs,NITs,state universities .You can get scholarships if it is a Govt. university . But through GATE you can get the most prestigious Indian Institutes . But there is lots of competition .

So according to me GATE is better .

Thank you

Re: GATE or GRE: Better choice after B.Tech?

hi
Both the exams are paths for masters degree.By going for GATE you can into MTECH at IIT,NIT and other institute and by GRE you can go for MS from foreign university .
As per my views MS from a good recognized university holds more weight-age and value but you have to score well in GRE to get scholarship and get exemption in fees otherwise it would be too costly .

Re: GATE or GRE: Better choice after B.Tech?

Hi,
Both are equally beneficial for you.It depends upon your interest that you are in.GATE is done for getting admission in IIT and GRE is done for getting Scholarship in abroad for engineering students.Well you have to decide in what you are interested in more. Both are having equal scopes in future.

Re: GATE or GRE: Better choice after B.Tech?

Hello
well GATE or GRE,there should not be any confusion.Although both the exams help you to gain admission in premier Masters course after you B.tech .... GRE is meant for getting admission to global institutes as it is widely accepted in US Europe and else where....
so basically you take GRE to go abroad
While GATE is accepted by top Indian colleges like IIT's, NIT's etc.
GRE will help you get a career abroad,
.... However for top universities abroad you need to have much more than gre scores high acads and Recommendation from reputed professors ,
So for a career in abroad go for GRE while for India go for GATE.. since GRE courses would be too costly for you.In gate also you get handsome stipend.

Re: GATE or GRE: Better choice after B.Tech?

Well buddy, GRE is of course the best option after your b.tech if you are planning to do MS outside India. If you want to do M.Tech in India, then you can go for GATE exam for admissions to IITs and NITs.

So think carefully in which you are interested at and choose well.

Best regards!!

Re: GATE or GRE: Better choice after B.Tech?

The purpose of writing these exams is for admission for Masters course. By writing the GATE you can secure admission for M.Tech course within the country. For admission for the Masters course abroad you need to appear for the GRE exam. A good score in GATE will help you get admission in IIT. You need to decide whether you would like to study in India or abroad. Either ways you need to make sure that you secure admission in recognised institutes.
