dear friend,

first of all i would like to tell u there is NO special branch for software development.
information technology is a part of computer science becoz most of the subjects which are in IT are almost in CSE.in CSE branch we learn about hardware as well as software subjects where as in IT only software subjects are available.

Re: Difference between Computer Science and Information Technology branch of engineering? Is there any special branch of software development?

Hi...

The basic idea by which these two branches were separated that CS is basically to give emphasis on the Algorithmic part of computer sciences with the knowledge of hardware, and IT is mostly the application part of CS.

In IT more focus is how to use existing technologies more efficiently and effectively,

But now a days engineers do not go in either Algorithmic part nor Application, just read books and give exams

so basically both are the same things.

So basically main difference is that but when it comes to placement, industry takes both as same, not much difference.

For Industries IT and CS graduates are the same.

In Curriculum there is slight difference but that does specified the specific branch but the main thing is the final year project and seminars you people choose.

That majorly decide the area you are working and there are no such restriction on the project selection as per the branch.

I hope you are satisfied with the answer.

Thanks.

Hi Friend,

both IT and CSE are almost same only a slight difference is there between CSE and IT.

CSE deals with research related works whereas

in IT we use already developed algorithms and use the codes which are already developed.

but at the time of placements both has the equal preference
and both have same number of job oppurtunities.

Re: Difference between Computer Science and Information Technology branch of engineering? Is there any special branch of software development?

dear friend,
There is a not a huge difference between these two streams..
One can say computer science is the core branch of information technology..
See, if you want to become a software developer then you can go for computer science..
and if you have interest in data encryption, coding, data transmission then you can go for IT..
Now a days the students of both the streams are doing same work..
so, you can go for any of them..
my suggestion will be to go for computer science.. as you want to become a software developer..
so, don't get confused....there is no other stream called software development..
All the best..

Both the streams CSE and IT are related to Computers. Both are important for software developments.
But there are some difference between this two streams. I personally thinks that CSE is better stream than IT as CSE covers both software and hardware part of the computers but IT only covers the software part. A student of CSE stream have much more knowledge on computers than a student of IT stream. I am not underestimating IT students. They may know the software part better.
So this are the basic difference between the IT and CSE streams.

Re: Difference between Computer Science and Information Technology branch of engineering? Is there any special branch of software development?

hello friend
At the most basic level, Computer Science is a "Hard" Science, well grounded in what is now known in the field of Mathematics as Information Theory. Computer Science (as a field) is concerned with developing new ideas around the use and design of computing systems, and with the mathematical concepts of computation and information.

Information Technology, on the other hand, is a practical Engineering discipline, concerned with implementing solutions to practical problems using current-day technology.

Hello sir
there is slight difference between CSC and IT in both you learn many thing similiar at the end you learn extra in CSC because CSC is advanced study of IT
In Computer Science -
application of
" Applied Mathematics", "Electrical Engineering", and "Complexity Theory/Algorithms" to understand information.

Information Technology - application of "Programming",
"Hardware Administration",
" Software Administration", "Networking",
"Network Security" and "Technical Support".
best of luck

There is some of the difference between computer science and Information technology.
A candidate doing Computer Science will learn application of "Applied Mathematics",
"Electrical Engineering", and "Complexity Theory/Algorithms" to understand information.

Where as candidate of the field of Information Technology will get the knowledge of
application of "Programming", "Hardware Administration", "Software Administration",
"Networking", "Network Security" and "Technical Support".
