Re: How can I join CDS after passing 12th? Sorry, you can't take CDS exam after 12th….. only graduate students are applicable for CDS Entry. If you are interested to join army after 12 as commissioned officer you can go for NDA exam “National Defence Academy Exam”. It is also conducted by Upsc just like as cds exam. NDA salary is Rs 56,100/ per NDA written Exam is VERY EASY to clear if you plan for it properly. You might have come across “NDA written is very TOUGH to crack” “It's not everyone's cup of tea“, etc. |

This Exam is conducted twice in a year by the Union Public Service Commission. Sorry to say but you cannot join Combined Defense Services after passing 12th , this is because the minimum educational qualification required for CDS is Graduation in any stream from any recognized college/university. The CDS Exam is conducted as CDS-I in the month of February and as CDS-II in the month of September. The Eligibility Criteria Required for CDS Exam are : ## Educational Qualifications : >> The candidate must have completed graduation in any stream from any recognized college/university. >> Candidates in the final year of graduation are also allowed to appear for the CDS Exam. >> There is no any specific percentage of marks requirement in Graduation , just a pass degree is required. ## Age Limitations : a) For Indian Militant Academy : 19-22 yrs b) For Naval Academy : 19-23 yrs c) For Air Force Academy : 19-24 yrs d) For Officer`s Training Academy : 19-25 yrs ## Nationality : >> The candidate must be an Indian Citizen or A subject of Nepal or a Subject Of Bhutan. The acronym for CDS is Combined Defence Services. First of all, I would like to inform you that only after completing 12th, you can never appear in the CDS examination. Because, to be appear in the CDS examination, first of all, you will have to complete your graduation. This is the graduation level examination. CDS examination is conducted by UPSC(Union Public Service Commission) twice every year in the months of February and September as CDS-I and CDS-II respectively. CDS examination is conducted for these four wings mentioned as below:- * Indian Naval Academy(INA). * Indian Air Force Academy(IAFA). * Indian Military/Army Academy. * Officer's Training Academy(OTA). The eligibility criteria required for the CDS examination are prescribed as below:- * Completion of graduation in any stream from any recognized college or university. * Final year contenders are also eligible. * Percentage criteria is not required. * Age limit:- 19-22 yrs(INA). 19-23 yrs(IAFA). 19-24 yrs(IMA). 19-25 yrs(OTA). * Age relaxation:- Not required. * Sex:- Both male and female. * Marital status:- Single or unmarried. * Nationality:- Indian. * Physically and mentally fit. Only if you are a graduate then only you can apply for this exam. Since if you have just passed higher secondary examination therefore you are not eligible yet. So my advice for you would be to complete graduation first in any discipline of your choice if you want to enter IMA or OTA. But if its AFA or NA you are targeting then its importance to get a degree with physics or mathematics or a B.Tech degree. Indian Military Academy (IMA):-

How To Apply? For General and OBC candidates the application fee is Rs. 200. All the /ST/Female candidates are exempted from payment of application fee. Combined Defence Service(CDS) entrance exam is conducted by UPSC twice every year for an entry in to Indian Military Academy, Naval Academy, Air Force Academy and Officer's Training Academy. The eligible candidate must be an unmarried Indian National having either appear for the final Graduation Degree exam in any stream of education from a recognised University within the age of 19 to 25 years with good Physical and mental health. The selection is through written exam followed by personal Interview along with Physical Fitness and Medical Test. So as you are interested for defence service, you can apply for NDA(National Defence Academy) after 12th or you have to wait till you complete Graduation to apply for CDS.
