Re: What is the criteria to enter into IIT by cracking GATE? It is necessary to get 60%for general category and 55% for SC/ST candidates in the qualifying degree. After you pass the GATE there happens to be online form submission conducted by every IIT. Fill those forms properly along with all the details and the GATE score detail and submit then IITs themselves will call you for GD and interview.there is 70% weightage for GATE score and remaining 30% for GD and interview. good luck!!!! |

Hello, Let me first clear your concept, there is no point thinking about the eligibility for going into IITs, you have to clear the GATE exam. Eligibility:- >>Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Technology/Architecture in final year or passed. >>MSc./M.A./MCA equivalent can also write. >>B.E/B.Tech equivalent examinations, of Professional Societies, recognized by MHRD/UPSC/AICTE like AMIE are also eligible, >>You can do any no. of attempts, no restriction for percentage , you can write this exam. But, a good score is needed badly, if you want to get IITs, a score of 600 and above is needed for getting IITs like:-

Hi there, once after cracking the GATE exam with 99 percentile there are chances of getting a seat in IITs. After getting a score card, you can send your score card to respective IITs and ask for admission. IF eligible they will call you for selection. Getting a score in GATE some times not sufficient if your B tech or 12th is not strong. If your having less then 60% in B tech your not eligible for IIT, also, If the b tech aggregate is less then 75%, they may interview you with personal and technical questions. they have right to conduct one more written test if they have any doubts or wants to test again. So maintaining aggregate upto 75% will be good for no rejection at later time. There is no such condition that you have to score every year / semester 60%. Aggregate must be above 60%.
