Hi

INFORMATION ON MBA - Masters of Business Administration !!!

As you might well know that, MBA is the hot course right not and its something which every graduate is craving for these days. The market scenario is not that good and so education is the only way we can make our way through. Since MBA is also a universal course, it accounts for the increasing demand of this course.

For your information, I would give you the details as in how can you take up this course, after completion of your B.Tech. Its basically a 2 years post graduation course, for which the candidate has to meet a minimum basic Eligibility requirements to take up this course. They are listed as follows:-

1. Firstly you should be a graduate in ANY stream from a recognized college or university. Some MBA colleges even ask for a minimum percentage of 60%. So you have to look that up for the respective colleges.

2. Secondly, you got to apply for all the MBA Entrances which include: CAT, MAT, XAT, GMAT, NMAT, SNAP, IBSAT, CMAT, etc and many others. They are basically conducted to select candidates on merit basis and offer them seats in the respective colleges under that particular entrance exam.

3. Also note that there is no age, nor attempt criteria for the MBA as its a professional course, so many people prefer gaining an experience of an year or two and then applying for the MBA.

So these are the basic criteria's for a candidate who wishes to take up MBA as the post graduation course.

Now the first step you have to follow is that be aware when these forms come out. Many students miss out on these forms, and they can not fill for the exam later on i.e. once the last date of submission passes away. Usually all these entrances can be attempted when you are in your final year of graduation be it any. So you can fill up for these.

Next you have to prepare yourself accordingly by being aware of the syllabus of that particular entrances and by practicing the previous year papers. For your information, CAT- Common Admission Test is the toughest exams of all, because it gives entry to the esteemed IIM's which are the best MBA SCHOOLS in the country.

So try your best to crack CAT and then ofcourse your preparation would be enough to get you a good seat in any of the top MBA colleges around the country. Once you crack any exam, they would call you for a session of GD- Group Discussion and then PI- Personal Interview. You have to go through these steps to get a seat in MBA college and do it.

Apart from this, I would also suggest if you want, you should join some coaching which would help you in guidance and also for your accurate and targeted preparations.

Besides these general information, as you say that you are already working I would say its an added benefit for you as yes your TECHNICAL EXPERIENCE WOULD ALSO COUNT, but mind you that you have to crack the ENTRANCE, GROUP DISCUSSION & PERSONAL INTERVIEW to get yourself a good seat in any of the IIM's or other top MBA colleges. And talking about packages, yes the average package after MBA from a good colleges ranges from 10-2 lacs p.a. which is huge. So wherever you are working right now, it would surely be more than that package and there would be a huge difference in it. Remember, education always pays off.

Hope this helps
All the best

Re: How to do full time MBA after doing B.Tech?

Dear student,

First of all, you have not mentioned about your subject in B.E. Anyways, Following are options for you.

1. MBA – Primarily focuses on education for Graduates with aspire to learn Managerial subjects.
2. M.Tech – Specifically focused to the Engineering graduates who wants to learn and work in more specialized technical arena.

MBA is relatively generic to M.Tech and hence can be considered as the course which provides vast choices to one in their career path. M.Tech is more specialized and choices are limited but the advantage is you will be an expert in specific area.

Regarding better opportunities and Salary, if you are good in your field, actually it doesn't matter even if you have not pursued your Post-Graduation. But if you have zeal towards learning more about something, you need to assess the options as above and make your decision.

Remember, "Study the BEST subject, If not possible, Study BEST the subject"

All the best for your endeavors.

MBA is a Post Graduation Course and can be done after completing your Graduation.

If you do MBA from TOP MBA colleges like IIM, XLRI etc than you annual salary package would be around 12 lakhs per annum

Selection procedure for the MBA course involves:
>> Written Test
>> Group Discussion
>> Interviews

MBA written Tests that you can appear are:

MAT- Minimum Eligibilty to apply is Graduation pass. This test is conducted by AIMA.

CAT- Minimum Eligibilty is Graduation pass with minimum 50% marks for general and OBC candidates and 50% marks for the SC/ST candidates.

SNAP- This exam is conducted by Symbiosis, Minimum Eligibilty is Graduation pass with minimum 50% marks.

XAT- Minimum Eligibilty is Graduation pass

To get calls from Good MBA colleges you have to get atleast 95 percentile marks in the all these written tests.

After this you would be called by colleges for the next rounds that is Group Discussion and Personal Interview.

It is possible to do Master of Business Administration after any graduation degree including the Bachelor of Technology. The technical experience you have will be non factor when applying for the MBA course.

No matter how much experience you have, still it will be required to appear for entrance exams conducted for MBA admission. However when applying for the job, the experience you have will play its role. You will be given edge over other candidates who may not have any prior experience.

Coming to Master of Business Administration, its a 2 years post graduation course. Can't apply for it unless you clear a entrance exam. There are various choices for the entrance exams.

CAT

JMET

GMAT

XAT

TANCET

SNAP

MAT

Choose the entrance exam depending on which college you want admission. For example if you want admission in Indian Institutes of Management, the most prestigious colleges for MBA in India, then you must appear for the Common Admission Test.

The Common Admission Test is a yearly entrance exam conducted by IIMs under rotation policy. Mainly it is the first pick for the MBA aspirants. Its not just IIMs but various other reputed colleges that offer admission for management courses through it. The list includes Indian Institutes of Technology as well.

CAT Eligibility

1. Any graduation degree will be accepted.

2. No less than 50 percent marks in the qualifying course.

3. 45 percent for SC/ST.
