Re: What is the cutoff percentage for OBC candidate to get into IIMs?

Hi Aspirant

Well their is no specific percentage of marks required to get admission in the Indian Institute of Management as If you want to take admission in the IIM's than you have to write the common aptitude test means CAT Exam which is conducted every year and if your CAT Score is good than ultimately you will get admission the iim's any of the iims like Mumbai,Rohtak.

IIM'S Consider the CAT Score cards first and than after that they consider your 10th class marks and also the 12th class marks like if you get above 90% than they will give you 9 marks out of 10 and similarly this works on 10th and 12th score cards.

Qualifications Required for the CAT Exam :

-The Candidate must be pass in the graduation from a recognized university

-The candidate should be pass in graduation with 50% marks

-Their is 5 % relaxation given to the reserve categories

So get good marks in the CAT Exam and take admission in the iim's but you should also take of your 10th and 12th class percentage.

Best of luck

IIM-Indian Institute of Management

To get admission in the top business schools or management institutes is carried out by conducting an Entrance exam.Any candidate can get into IIM"S by giving Common admission test or CAT exam and the way to get into IIM is through clearing of CAT exam and other stages of selection by which one can get into the top Management Institutions including IIM's and Other institutes which accept CAT scores.

There is different percentage criteria for different IIM"S although the percentage required to sit in CAT are as under------>>

>>you should be a graduate from any stream from a recognized university.

>>If you belong to general or OBC category then you are required to have atleast 50% marks in graduation.

>>However if you belong to SC/ST category then a relaxation of 5% is present in terms of percentage eligibility that is 45% for SC/St category candidates.

Age limit--
>>you need to be either a graduate or a candidate in final year of graduation.

>>There is no age limit and no. of attempts to appear fort CAT exam, hence you can apply if you satisfy other criteria as well.

Selection procedure:::
>>Written test (CAT)

>>group Discussion
>>personal Interview

Parameters for selecting candidates and short listing them:::

IIM shortlists the candidates for second stage of selection after written exam (CAT). The process may include

>>Written Ability Test (WAT)
>> Group Discussions (GD)
>> Personal Interviews (PI).>>Performance in CAT 2012 examination is an important component in the admission process.

NOTE---
>>IIMs generally use your previous academic performance (class X and XII).IF you have some work experience then that will only help you in getting selected if you have good CAT exam But even fine X And XII percentage.

>The processes of selection, academic cut-offs and the weights allocated to the evaluation parameters vary across IIMs.so you can visit their Individual sites which I have provided below----

Re: What is the cutoff percentage for OBC candidate to get into IIMs?

Eligibility criteria :::--

The first thing you need is Bachelors degree in any stream from a recognised university.

You need to score at least 50 percent marks in Bachelors course.

Candidates from SC/ST/ need to score 45 percent marks in Bachelors course.

I hope this would answer your question. In IIM only SC/ST are subject of relaxation in percentage required.

Cracking CAT exam for admission in IIM is not a easy thing considering the competition. Therefore it is only wise to take external help. You can join good coaching centers which would help you prepare for the CAT Exam. Some good coaching centers are, Career Launcher, IMS, and Time coaching.

Alone CAT exam result will not get you admission in IIMs. The admission procedure consists 3 steps out of which clearing CAT is only the first step.

Once you have cleared the Common Admission Test (CAT), there would be Group Discussion followed by Personal Interview before you can live your IIM dream.

BEST OF LUCK.

IIM means Indian Institutes of Management which offers MBA courses. IIMs are considered top MBA colleges in India and almost 6-7 Lakh students apply for the admission in the IIMs.

The admission in Indian Institutes of Management purely depends on your performance in the entrance exam for MBA called Common Admission Test. CAT is one of the most reputed entrance exam for Masters in Business Administration course in India. The CAT score is accepted by the IIMs and several other leading B-Schools in India. Therefore it is must that you appear in CAT and pass it with flying colors.

Once you have cleared the Common Admission Test (CAT), there would be Group Discussion followed by Personal Interview before you can live your IIM dream.

The group discussion usually consists 6 to 10 students and it is not a elimination round. However your performance in the Group Discussion would be considered while appearing for the Personal Interview. The topics of Group Discussion are general and their is very little preparation that you can do for it. The best option is to keep yourself updated to the current affairs.

Personal Interview is the most important part of selection process. Here university would see why a candidate should be considered for admission. You will have to appear confidence and answer each query with full confidence to be considered for IIMs.

I would also say that even if you fail to make it into the IIMs, there is no reason to be disappointed. It is not the end of the world. There are several good colleges which would definitely give you admission.
